LIGHT ALLOY WHEEL, METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SAME, AND DEVICE FOR MANUFACTURING SAME
A method for manufacturing a light alloy wheel that includes a substantially annular rim part and a disc part that is joined to one edge of the rim part on an inner side and is to be attached to an axle. The method includes a molten metal pouring step for pouring a light alloy molten metal from a sprue opened into a mold cavity formed into a shape of the rim part, and a forced cooling step for, after the molten metal pouring step, forcibly cooling the light alloy molten metal poured into the mold cavity formed into the shape of the rim part such that one predetermined cooling unit of a plurality of cooling units provided along an entire circumference on an outer side or an inner side of the mold cavity formed into the shape of the rim part is first operated and an other cooling unit thereof is then operated.
High Conductivity Magnesium Alloy
A castable, moldable, or extrudable magnesium-based alloy that includes one or more insoluble additives. The insoluble additives can be used to enhance the mechanical properties of the structure, such as ductility and/or tensile strength. The final structure can be enhanced by heat treatment, as well as deformation processing such as extrusion, forging, or rolling, to further improve the strength of the final structure as compared to the non-enhanced structure. The magnesium-based composite has improved thermal and mechanical properties by the modification of grain boundary properties through the addition of insoluble nanoparticles to the magnesium alloys. The magnesium-based composite can have a thermal conductivity that is greater than 180 W/m−K, and/or ductility exceeding 15-20% elongation to failure.
METHODS FOR MANUFACTURING CARBON FIBER REINFORCED ALUMINUM COMPOSITES USING STIR CASTING PROCESS
A method for manufacturing carbon fiber reinforced aluminum composites is provided. Particularly, the method uses a stir casting process during a melting and casting process and reduces a contact angle of carbon against aluminum by inputting carbon fibers while supplying a current to liquid aluminum to induce the carbon fibers to be spontaneously and uniformly distributed in the liquid aluminum and inhibits a formation of an aluminum carbide (Al.sub.4C.sub.3) phase on an interface between the aluminum and the carbon fiber, thereby manufacturing carbon fiber reinforced aluminum composites having excellent electrical, thermal and mechanical characteristics.
METHOD FOR THE PRODUCTION OF A CYLINDER HEAD FOR AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A method for the production of a cylinder head for an internal combustion engine. The production method presentes the steps of: dividing the cylinder head into a main part, where there is the flame deck making up the crown of each cylinder, and an operating part, where there are the housings of the control means of the valves; manufacturing, at first, the sole main part of the cylinder head by means of a casting process in a mould; and manufacturing, subsequently, the operating part of the cylinder head by means of additive manufacturing, which adds layer upon layer starting from the previously manufactured main part of the cylinder head.
