TOOL HOLDER WITH UPPER AND LOWER JAWS DEFINING AN INSERT RECEIVING POCKET AND CUTTING TOOL
A tool holder having a holder body, an opening of the holder body having opposing upper and lower jaws respectively defining upper and lower pocket surfaces of an insert receiving pocket, and a resilience slot extending away from the insert receiving pocket. A first plane intersects the upper and lower pocket surfaces, and an actuating member extends from the upper jaw along a first axis in a downward direction and traverses the resilience slot. The lower jaw includes an access bore, and a locking member occupies the access bore and engages a locking portion of the actuating member. The upper jaw has a top jaw surface facing in an upward direction, and the first axis intersects the top jaw surface. A cutting tool is configured with the tool holder and a cutting insert removably secured in the insert receiving pocket.
TURNING TOOL
A turning tool for metal cutting includes a tool body with an insert seat, a clamping member and a clamping pin. The clamping pin connects the tool body and the clamping member to clamp a cutting insert in the insert seat. A shaft of the clamping pin is axially movably received in the tool body bore and moveable to a first axial position. The clamping pin, in the first axial position, engages the clamping member and forces the clamping member towards a tool body top surface, to clamp the cutting insert in the seat. In the first axial position, a first coolant fluid outlet opening in the head is located above a top surface of the clamping member. A locking mechanism, in the first axial position, releasably locks the shaft in the bore preventing axial sliding toward the tool body top surface.
Double-ended cutting insert having mounting projection with insert upper abutment and insert stopper surfaces
A cutting tool includes a two-way indexable cutting insert clamped in a transversely oriented insert receiving pocket of an insert holder. The insert holder includes a forwardly located insert mounting portion that includes upper and lower jaws which together define the insert receiving pocket having a pocket front opening. The lower jaw includes a pocket lower clamping surface. The upper jaw includes a pocket upper clamping surface which faces mutually towards the pocket lower clamping surface and a pocket stopper surface facing generally towards the pocket front opening. The pocket stopper surface is closer to the pocket lower clamping surface and further from the pocket front opening, than the pocket upper clamping surface. The pocket stopper surface is further from the pocket rear opening than the pocket lower clamping surface.
TOOL ASSEMBLY CONFIGURED FOR SWISS MACHINING
A grooving or part-off tool assembly for Swiss-style machining includes a holder. The holder includes a resilient normally-closed holder clamp. In a preferred embodiment the holder clamp biases a blade holding a cutting insert against a pocket side abutment surface of a holder pocket.
Turning insert for metal cutting
A turning insert includes a head portion connected to a stem portion. A CBN cutting edge includes a surface generating cutting edge and two major cutting edge portions, such that each major cutting edge portion forms an angle of 5-20° in relation to a tangent line of the cutting edge at a forward point of the cutting edge.
CUTTING INSERT AND CUTTING TOOL
A cutting insert and a cutting tool which can suppress lowering of blade-edge positional accuracy while holding by a holder having a small thickness is enabled are provided.
The cutting insert includes a first end surface, a second end surface, and a peripheral side surface connected to the first end surface and the second end surface and having a rake face, a flank, and a cutting edge formed in a connection region between the rake face and the flank, and a through hole penetrating the first end surface and the second end surface is formed. It is the cutting insert including a first contact surface substantially perpendicular to a center axis direction of the through hole and capable of contacting the holder, a second contact surface substantially in parallel with the center axis direction of the through hole, substantially perpendicular to a plane including the first contact surface and capable of contacting the holder, and a third contact surface inclined with respect to the center axis direction of the through hole and capable of contacting the holder, and a cutting tool including the cutting insert as above.
Holder for a broaching tool
Broaching tool comprising a cutting insert having a cutting edge and a holder for holding the cutting insert. The holder has a clamping region and a holding region, wherein the holding region comprises, at its end facing away from the clamping region, a seat for the cutting insert, which is configured and arranged such that, when the cutting insert is mounted in the seat, its cutting edge projects beyond the circumferential surface of the holding region. The holding region furthermore comprises, on its circumferential surface, a support for the cutting insert. A coolant channel extends into the inside of the holder, which coolant channel comprises two exit openings which, as seen in the circumferential direction, are arranged laterally adjacent to the support and/or in lateral surfaces of the support.
Tooling for machining systems utilizing supercritical fluids
Improvements in tooling for machining systems that utilize machining fluids comprising a supercritical fluid are disclosed. In some embodiments a tool may include a plurality of orifices configured to direct a supercritical machining fluid towards a cutting interface of the tool. In other embodiments, a tool holder may include one or more outlets configured to direct a supercritical machining fluid towards a cutting interface. Moreover, some embodiments, may relate to machining systems including one or more venting channels configured to provide pressure relief for a cavity located behind a tool holder. Embodiments related to machine tools including upstream fluid restrictions for controlling a flow of supercritical machining fluid through a tool are also disclosed.
Cutting tool and cutting insert
Provided is a cutting insert having two cutting parts that is capable of entering a workpiece more deeply and easily supports machining of a groove or hole having a small diameter in a workpiece. A cutting insert includes: a body having at least an inner surface to be fixed to a tool body of a cutting tool and an outer surface opposed to the inner surface; and two cutting parts protruding in opposite directions in a longitudinal direction of the body. The cutting part includes: a cutting upper surface; a cutting front surface; and a first cutting side surface and a second cutting side surface. A front cutting edge is located on an edge between the cutting upper surface and the cutting front surface. In a projection view of the body as seen from the longitudinal direction, the cutting upper surfaces of the two cutting parts are oriented in directions opposed to each other, and front cutting edges of the two cutting parts are disposed so as to be more away from each other as being closer to the first cutting side surface from the second cutting side surface.

A turning toolholder includes a shank, a club head, and a clamp and a clamp screw for clamping a cutting insert. The club head includes a clamp coolant supply hole in fluid communication, a flank coolant supply hole and an auxiliary rake coolant supply hole, all in fluid communication with the main coolant supply hole. Coolant is supplied through a rake coolant exit opening formed in the forward nose portion of the clamp to direct coolant to the top rake surface of the cutting insert, and coolant is supplied through a flank coolant exit opening located below the insert-receiving pocket to provide coolant to the side flank surfaces of the cutting insert. In addition, an auxiliary rake coolant supply housing formed on a top surface of the club head supplies additional coolant to the top rake surface of the cutting insert during high heat applications.
