An indexable parting blade has opposite blade first and second sides, a blade peripheral edge, a central index axis, and at least first, second and third insert pockets located along the blade peripheral edge. The parting blade also has first, second and third coolant channels, each forming a coolant path from a corresponding inlet to a corresponding one of the insert pockets. Each coolant channel includes a rake outlet opening out to a rake side of its corresponding insert pocket and a relief outlet opening out to a relief side of that same insert pocket. The inlet corresponding to a given coolant channel is located further from that coolant channel's insert pocket than at least one of (a) the inlet corresponding to a different coolant channel, and (b) the central index axis.

TOOLING FOR MACHINING SYSTEMS UTILIZING SUPERCRITICAL FLUIDS

Improvements in tooling for machining systems that utilize machining fluids comprising a supercritical fluid are disclosed. In some embodiments a tool may include a plurality of orifices configured to direct a supercritical machining fluid towards a cutting interface of the tool. In other embodiments, a tool holder may include one or more outlets configured to direct a supercritical machining fluid towards a cutting interface. Moreover, some embodiments, may relate to machining systems including one or more venting channels configured to provide pressure relief for a cavity located behind a tool holder. Embodiments related to machine tools including upstream fluid restrictions for controlling a flow of supercritical machining fluid through a tool are also disclosed.

The second end includes a fixed plane oriented parallel to a lengthwise direction of the shank. The fixed plane includes an arcuate face at a distal end of the fixed plane. The head has a fixed plane that mates with the fixed plane of the shank. The fixed planes of the shank and head include a pivot hole through which a pivot bolt passes. The pivot bolt allows adjustment of the head through a wide range of angles relative to a lengthwise direction of the shank, while the fixed planes maintain a position of a centerline of a cutting tool constant with respect to a centerline of the shank. The fixed plane of the shank may be on a centerline of the shank.
