Multi-spindle machine control system
10160038 · 2018-12-25 · ·

A machine control system for a multi-spindle machine includes a controller (42, 86). The controller is operative to reduce the risk of potentially damaging machining chip formation by controlled disengagement of a low speed clutch (18) of a transmission (14) which drives spindles (36) which rotate work pieces. Automatically selectively varying timing and duration of periods of disengagement of the low speed clutch breaks the continuity of chips to reduce the risk of developing damaging conditions as a result thereof.

A finger includes a pair of overhanging portions that project out laterally from a main body portion. Outer peripheral surfaces of the overhanging portions are made up from five surfaces including upper surfaces, side surfaces, lower surfaces, first end surfaces, and second end surfaces. Crowning is applied to the intersections between these surfaces.

Axle Arrangement for Mounting a Tool or a Workpiece and Method for Operating the Axle Arrangement

The invention relates to an axle arrangement (10) for mounting a tool or a workpiece. The axle arrangement (10) comprises a receiving unit (12) that is supported by a swivel bearing assembly (13) in a base body (11) so as to be rotatable about a longitudinal axis L. The receiving unit (12) has a receiving sleeve (18) that is supported so as to be immovable in longitudinal direction R parallel to the longitudinal axis L and has a gripper actuating element (23) that is supported so as to be slidable in the receiving sleeve (18) along the longitudinal axis L. On one end of the gripper actuating element (23) associated with the front end (18a) of the receiving sleeve (18), there is seated a gripper unit (24) for gripping the tool or the workpiece. The gripper unit (24) is pretensioned by a pretension unit (30) in a clamping position I. An actuatable release unit (34) can move the gripper unitcounter the pretension force FV of the pretension unit (30)into a release position II. By means of a support unit (48), an auxiliary bearing (49) that, in particular, is configured as an axial bearing, can be pressed against the receiving sleeve (18) in order to achieve an improved axial force support of the receiving unit (12) on the base body (11) and to reduce the load on the swivel bearing assembly (13) due to axial forces.

Air chuck

An air chuck includes: a finger support part including a pair of fingers and a pair of lock shafts; a chuck main body part including an operation mechanism operable to open and close the fingers; and linking mechanisms that detachably link the finger support part to the chuck main body part. Each of the linking mechanisms causes the corresponding lock shaft to shift to a non-lock position so as to render the pair of fingers capable of being opened and closed when the finger support part is linked to the chuck main body part. Each of the linking mechanisms causes the corresponding lock shaft to shift to a lock position and locks the pair of fingers so as to render the pair of fingers incapable of being opened and closed when the finger support part is detached from the chuck main body part.

Failsafe locating device for drilling holes

The present disclosure generally relates to a drilling tool having one or more locating brackets. The locating brackets include contacts that when engaged by a workpiece or a component adjacent to a workpiece, complete a pneumatic circuits of a pneumatic switch. Completion of the pneumatic circuits facilities operation of a drill of the drilling tool, thus allowing operation of the drilling tool and/or engagement of the drill with a workpiece. The locator brackets are sized and positioned such that engagement of the contacts occurs when the drilling tool is located in a predetermined position, thereby ensuring that drilling of a hole occurs in a desired location.

Positioning workpieces by clamping devices

Methods, devices, and systems for positioning workpieces for processing. In one aspect, a clamping device includes two clamping elements and a servo drive provided for the clamping elements. The servo drive is operable to first move at least one of the clamping elements toward the other of the clamping elements such that the clamping elements are transferred into a clamping start position in which the clamping elements are positioned on opposite sides of a workpiece arranged therebetween and in which the clamping elements do not apply a force to the workpiece or apply a force to the workpiece that is smaller than a clamping force, and subsequently urge the clamping elements toward one another from the clamping start position to an operational state, in which the clamping elements apply the clamping force to the workpiece.

Threaded pin remover

A threaded pin remover for a threaded pin in an interference fit in a structure is provided. The threaded pin remover includes a housing. A pin grasper is slidably mounted in the housing and includes: a first end configured to couple to a linear actuator for slidably moving the pin grasper between an extended position relative to the housing and a retracted position relative to the housing. A second end of the pin grasper includes a pin grasping collet configured to, in the retracted position relative the housing, engage with a portion of the housing to cause grasping of the exposed portion of the threaded pin by the pin grasping collet to release the threaded pin from the interference fit, allowing removing of the threaded pin from the structure.

Air chuck

An air chuck includes a chuck unit including a pair of fingers that capable of being freely opened and closed, an operation unit that includes an operation mechanism, which opens and closes the pair of fingers, connection mechanisms for attaching the chuck unit to the operation unit such that the chuck unit is freely attachable and detachable to and from the operating unit, and a locking mechanism that locks the pair of fingers such that the pair of fingers are capable of being freely opened and closed when the chuck unit is attached to the operation unit and such that the pair of fingers are not able to be opened or closed when the chuck unit is detached from the operation unit.
