Formed rotary cutting tool
A formed rotary cutting tool includes a cutting edge defining a cutting edge diameter that is increased and reduced in a direction of an axis of the tool, so as to have at least one neck portion in which the cutting edge diameter is minimized. The cutting tool includes a roughing portion which is provided on a periphery thereof and which is constituted by a succession of protrusions and recesses arranged in the direction of the axis. The roughing portion includes (i) a fine roughing portion that is provided in at least one of the at least one neck portion, and (ii) another portion that is provided in a portion that is other than the at least one of the at least one neck portion. The fine roughing portion of the roughing portion is different in characteristics from the above-described another portion of the roughing portion.
FRICTION DRIVE LOCOMOTIVE WHEEL TRUING SYSTEM AND METHOD
A frictional drive railway wheel truing system comprising a master lift and drive arm spaced from a slave lift and drive arm extending from within a railway pit for lifting a pair of opposed railway wheels off railway rails. Each master and slave drive assembly comprising frictional drums to turn a railway wheel from a wheel flange. A master and slave lathe assembly moveable along an axis parallel to a rotational axis of the frictional drums; each master and slave lathe assembly having a cutting bit positioned to engage a tread and a flange of a railway wheel in a cut mode at a location superior to the contact area of said frictional drums and railway wheel; and a hold down device fixing rotation of a railway wheel to a predetermined axis during a wheel truing operation.
Balancing weight entry port for turbine rotor
A turbine rotor includes a rotor body and a balancing weight slot defined in an exterior circumference of the body. The balancing weight slot has a first axial width and a first radially outward facing surface at a first radial distance from a rotor axis. The rotor also includes a balancing weight entry port defined in a portion of the exterior circumference of the rotor body and aligned with the balancing weight slot. The balancing weight entry port has a second axial width greater than the first axial width and a second radially outward facing surface at a second radial distance from the axis of the rotor body that is smaller than the first radial distance. A method may include machining the entry port into the rotor with a tool. The method may be applied to a new rotor, or to remove cracks initiating from a previous entry port.

Machining tool with a double tubular body and method for manufacturing such a tool
A machining tool has a body that includes a central tubular portion forming a duct centered on a longitudinal axis. A peripheral tubular portion is coaxial with the central tubular portion and surrounds the central tubular portion. A first machining stage has a first arm and a second arm that extend on either side of the central tubular portion. The first arm and the second arm each have a machining member at the end thereof. The first arm and the second arm are each integral with the central tubular portion and the peripheral tubular portion. The machining tool body also includes a baseplate. The peripheral tubular portion has at least one linking arch connecting the first arm and the second arm and bypassing the central tubular portion.
