The peripheral surface has two opposite front surfaces connected to two opposite side surfaces. Each front surface has a pair of outward abutment surfaces and each side surface has a pair of at least partially planar inward abutment surfaces. Each pair of outward abutment surfaces converge outwardly away from the third axis and each pair of inward abutment surfaces converge inwardly towards the third axis.
SLOTTING TOOL BODY HAVING INWARDLY OFFSET INSERT RECEIVING SLOT, ROTARY SLOT CUTTING TOOL HAVING SAME AND CUTTING INSERT
A slotting tool body includes a disc-like cutter portion and a shank portion projecting rearwardly therefrom. The cutter portion includes a resilient clamping portion having a peripherally disposed insert receiving slot. The shank portion includes a peripherally disposed forward shank recess that is axially adjacent the cutter portion. A radially inward portion of the insert receiving slot merges in the rearward direction with the forward shank recess. A cutting insert is releasably and resiliently clamped in the insert receiving slot to form a rotary slot cutting tool. The cutting insert includes two cutting portions that each include a long and short insert lateral extension, the long insert lateral extension being longer than the short insert lateral extension. The longest insert lateral extensions are orated on opposite sides of the cutting insert.
DOUBLE-SIDED INDEXABLE INSERT HAVING TAPERED WAIST FOR HIGH-FEED MILLING AND DRILLING
An indexable milling or drilling insert having a 180-degree rotational symmetry about each of the first, second and third axes (X, Y, Z) of a three-dimensional euclidean space. The insert has opposite first and second main surfaces and a peripheral surface extending therebetween. Each main surface has a main abutment surface and at least two rake surfaces. The insert has a through clamping bore which extends along the third axis and opens out to the main surfaces.
Cutting insert, a cutting insert holder, a system including the cutting insert and cutting insert holder, and a method of manufacturing thereof
A cutting insert for metalworking operations is retained within a cutting insert holder by a resilient tab on the holder that engages a recess on the stem of the insert. The cutting insert and the holder may be fabricated using rapid prototyping techniques such as 3D printing.
Indexable rotary cutting tool and insert used therein
An insert detachably attached to an indexable rotary cutting tool, having an upper surface having cutting edges along the ridgeline, a lower surface, side surfaces, and a center hole for a fastening screw; each cutting edge having a corner cutting edge formed in each acute corner portion, and a bottom cutting edge and a peripheral cutting edge formed along the ridgelines on both sides of the corner cutting edge; the bottom cutting edge and the peripheral cutting edge having different clearance angles; a flank of the corner cutting edge having an angle-changing surface portion having a clearance angle continuously changing in a region from the bottom cutting edge to the peripheral cutting edge; and the length of the peripheral cutting edge being restricted by a receding portion adjacent to an upper end of the peripheral cutting edge.
INDEXABLE ROTARY CUTTING TOOL AND INSERT
An indexable rotary cutting tool comprising, a twist angle of the outer peripheral cutting edge having a positive value, an axial rake angle of the cutting edge of the corner R at a boundary point between the cutting edge of the corner R and the outer peripheral cutting edge has a positive value, the axial rake angle of the cutting edge of the corner R at the reference point has a negative value, at least the radial rake angle in a region between the boundary point and the reference point in an entire edge length region of the cutting edge of the corner R has a negative value, and the radial rake angle of the cutting edge of the corner R at the reference point is smaller than the radial rake angle of the cutting edge of the corner at the boundary point.
Land preparation tool
A land preparation tool includes a tool body having a longitudinal axis; a cutting surface having a distal end and first and second blades positioned at the distal end; a mounting surface disposed on the tool body opposite the cutting surface, the mounting surface having an apex extending along about half of the mounting surface parallel to the longitudinal axis, a first mounting surface extending from the apex, a second mounting surface extending from the apex, and a recess disposed into the mounting surface; and a channel extending from the recess only partially into the tool body.
Indexable milling insert having side supporting valley, and a milling tool
Milling inserts having surfaces designed for supporting the insert relative to a milling cutter body, and a milling tool are provided. The milling insert has a first end surface, a second end surface, and a side surface extending between the first end surface and the second end surface At least one cutting edge is defined by an intersection of at least one of the first end surface and the second end surface with the side surface. The at least one cutting edge includes a radiused component having a first end and a second end and first and second components at the first and the second ends of the radiused component, respectively. The first and second components are less curved than the radiused component. The side surface has at least one substantially V-shaped valley formed by first and second support surfaces.
Milling tool and cutting element for use in a milling tool
A milling tool has a support member with an exterior surface with at least one receptacle, wherein the at least one receptacle has a bottom. At least one cutting element provided with a cutter having a cutting edge is positioned in the at least one receptacle. A three-point support is arranged between the at least one cutting element and the bottom of the at least one receptacle for positioning the cutting edge relative to the bottom of the at least one receptacle. The three-point support comprises three support pads arranged at a bottom side of the at least one cutting element and/or three projections arranged at the bottom of the at least one receptacle.
Indexable cutting tool
A cutting insert has top and bottom surfaces opposing each other and a side surface connecting them. A part of an intersecting ridge between the top and side surfaces functions as a cutting edge. On the side surface, a side surface portion adjacent to the intersecting ridge portion opposing the cutting edge intersects the top surface at an acute angle. At least on a part of a bottom surface, an inclined surface gradually approaching the top surface with increasing distance from a side surface portion on a side opposite to a cutting edge is formed. This allows a part of the cutting resistance to act on the side surface portion. As a result, friction resistance between the side surface portion and the side surface of an insert seat becomes larger, thereby suppressing a shifting of the cutting insert when cutting.
