Aquaporin 2 protects cattle from ticks and tick-borne parasites
A novel method of using an aquaporin protein from Rhipicephalus microplus (RmAQP2), fragments of RmAQP2, and/or the cDNA encoding RmAQP2 and/or the fragments are described. Immunogenic composition containing recombinant RmAQP2 and/or fragments of RmAQP2 are produced and administered to an ungulate which generates an immune response to RmAQP2. After feeding female ticks on the ungulate injected with RmAQP2 and/or fragments of RmAQP2, the female ticks have lower reproductive viability because of a reduced egg mass, reduced hatching percentage, and reduced survival of larvae. Thus, administering RmAQP2 and/or RmAQP2 fragments to an ungulate can reduce the incidence of R. microplus and also reduce the incidence of tick-borne pathogens in ungulates because of the lower number of R. microplus.
TREATMENT TO PROMOTE WOUND HEALING
The invention relates to a field of tissue repair and regeneration. More particularly, the invention relates to a composition for promoting cutaneous wound healing. In one embodiment, the composition is composed of one or more metazoan parasites or a mimic thereof sufficient to promote helminth-induced type-2 immune response. Preferably, the composition contains N. brasiliensis excretory/secretory antigen (NES) or an immune triggering portion thereof. The invention also relates to a method of accelerating wound healing in a subject in need of such treatment.
Anti-Abeta Therapeutic Vaccines
A liposomal vaccine composition comprises a -amyloid (A)-derived peptide antigen displayed on the surface of the liposome. The vaccine composition also comprises a peptide comprising a universal T-cell epitope encapsulated within the liposome. The vaccine composition also comprises an adjuvant, which may form part of the liposome and may be displayed at least in part on the surface of the liposome. These vaccine compositions are used for treating, preventing, inducing a protective immune response against or alleviating the symptoms associated with an amyloid-beta associated disease or condition or a condition characterised by, or associated with, loss of cognitive memory capacity in a subject. The vaccine compositions may be provided as a kit. Related methods of producing a liposomal vaccine composition are also provided.
Oil-based adjuvants
The instant invention provides various formulations comprising combinations of immunostimulating oligonucleotides, polycationic carriers, sterols, saponins, quaternary amines, TLR-3 agonists, glycolipids, and MPL-A or analogs thereof in oil emulsions, use thereof in preparations of immunogenic compositions and vaccines, and use thereof in the treatment of animals.
ALLERGY-SPECIFIC IMMUNOTHERAPY COMPOSITIONS FOR USE IN THE TREATMENT OF HOUSE-DUST MITE ALLERGY
The present invention relates to a composition comprising purified natural Der p1 and purified natural Der p2 allergens for use in the treatment of house-dust mite allergy in mammals, like humans. The invention further pertains pharmaceutical compositions for allergy-specific immune therapy. Specifically, the invention discloses reduced responsiveness to subsequent house dust mite allergen exposure after treatment with a pharmaceutical composition comprising purified natural Der p1 and purified natural Der p2 characterized by reduction in Th2 cell activity and reduction in CCL20 release.
Filarial nematode vaccines, polypeptides, and nucleic acids
The present invention relates to vaccines comprising a ShK domain of a filarial nematode protein. These vaccines may be used for the prevention and/or treatment of filarial nematode infections. The invention also relates to novel proteins comprising a ShK domain of a filarial nematode protein and pharmaceutical compositions. The invention may be used for the prevention and/or treatment of filarial nematode infections in canine subjects, and also in human subjects.
LUTZOMYIA LONGIPALPIS POLYPEPTIDES AND METHODS OF USE
Substantially purified salivary Lu. longipalpis polypeptides, and polynucleotides encoding these polypeptides are disclosed. Vectors and host cells including the Lu. longipalpis polynucleotides are also disclosed. In one embodiment, a method is disclosed for inducing an immune response to sand fly saliva. In other embodiments, methods for treating, diagnosing, or preventing Leishmaniasis are disclosed.
Allergy inhibitor compositions and kits and methods of using the same
Compositions, methods, and kits for inhibiting an allergic response against an allergenic protein are disclosed. Compositions, methods and kits for inhibiting an allergic response against a flea allergenic protein; a feline allergenic protein; a canine allergenic protein; a dust mite allergenic protein; a peanut allergenic protein; a Japanese cedar allergenic protein; and a blomia tropicalis allergenic protein are disclosed.
DENDRITIC CELL INHIBITORY PROTEINS FROM TICKS
The present invention provides a dendritic cell modulatory protein which modulates, and preferably inhibits, the differentiation and/or maturation of mammalian dendritic cells. The invention also provides proteins comprising conserved motifs found in such proteins as well as pharmaceutical compositions comprising the dendritic cell modulatory protein and homologues and active fragments thereof, antibodies thereto and methods of treatment which utilise such proteins, homologues, fragments and anti-bodies.
Use of Listeria vaccine vectors to reverse vaccine unresponsiveness in parasitically infected individuals
This invention relates to methods of using a Listeria vaccine vector to induce a Th1 immune response in subjects having persistent Th2 immune response profiles.
