Device and method for separating a longitudinally-extended cylindrical workpiece
In a device for separating a longitudinally-extended cylindrical workpiece, which has a diameter in the sub-millimeter range, into individual segments, the workpiece is guided in a clamping device. The clamping device includes a first and a second clamping jaw and a feed opening for the workpiece. The feed opening is fitted between the clamping jaws on the side facing the other clamping jaw and a longitudinal groove which defines a direction of advancement of the workpiece for receiving and guiding the workpiece between the clamping jaws. The clamping device has a passage for a laser beam and a cutting gas, which passage defines a working zone, disrupts the longitudinal groove and runs parallel thereto. A cutter head is arranged in the working zone and has an outlet opening for the laser beam and the cutting gas, which outlet opening is aligned with the passage.
Methods and systems for machining precision micro holes into thick ceramic substrates
A combination of a liquid jet and a mechanical rotary tool can be used to machine precision micro holes in thick substrates. A liquid-jet guided laser can be used to rapidly drill core holes into the ceramic substrate. A sensor can be applied to detect the cut through point of the liquid-jet guided laser drilling step to allow a rapid and closed-loop controlled machining process. The substrate can be heated up for speeding up a liquid-jet guided laser drilling process. A mechanical tool such as a drill, a reamer or a mill can be applied to finish the core holes to a desired bore diameter. The mechanical tool cutting main surface can preferably consist of a diamond material. An inspection camera and illumination system can be applied to inspect each mechanically finished bore as part of the drilling process.

Laser cladding method and device for implementing same
A method and device for laser cladding by independently heating the cladding material and the surface of the workpiece consist in formation of the series of parallel annular laser beams, possibly different wavelengths, with an adjustable distribution of laser radiation power across the annular beams. The annular beams are transformed into a series of conical beams which are separately focused along a single optical axis, along which the cladding material is fed. The device can be supplemented with a cylindrical mirror for the multipass laser radiation through the stream of cladding material with the possibility of the laser radiation return to the laser resonator.

Laser Processing Head, Application Thereof, Laser Processing System, and Laser Processing Method
A laser processing head (100) comprises a first-level nozzle (110) and a second-level nozzle (120) that communicate with each other, wherein the second-level nozzle (120) is arranged downstream of the first-level nozzle (110); an inner diameter of the second-level nozzle (120) gradually decreases in a laser transmission direction, and minimum inner diameter of the first-level nozzle (110) is larger than the inner diameter of a tail end of the second-level nozzle (120). The laser processing head (100) solves the contradiction between high energy density laser and the system reliability through gradual coupling. Also provided are an application of the laser processing head, a laser processing system and a laser processing method.
COMBINED LIQUID GUIDED LASER AND ELECTRICAL DISCHARGE MACHINING
This disclosure provides a system, method, and resulting workpiece combining liquid guided laser and electrical discharge machining to create a common feature. The workpiece is positioned in a liquid guided laser cutting path and machined by the liquid guided laser device to create an intermediate feature in the workpiece. The work piece is then positioned in an electrical discharge machining (EDM) device so that an electrode of the EDM device is operatively positioned proximate the intermediate feature and machined using the EDM device to modify the intermediate feature in the workpiece to create the finished common feature in the workpiece.
