A bevel head assembly is shown capable of fine motor control of a cutting tool (for instance, a laser or plasma cutter) in three simultaneous dimensions of movement. A rack-and-pinion system moves the bevel head assembly and cutter up and down in the Z-axis while a rotational motor attached to the rack-and-pinion system moves the bevel head assembly in a first rotational (X) axis, and a linear actuator pivotally connected to the cutting tool is mounted to the rotational motor to move the bevel head assembly in a second (Y) rotational axis.

The laser-processing apparatus further includes a web tensioner assembly configured to apply a biasing force on the tensioning roller to maintain the workpiece in a desired state of tension.

A rotating power connection for connecting an electrical supply power cable to an electric welding torch body is provided. In the rotating power connection, the mechanical load is carried by steel bearings, and the electric load is carried by multi-contact, spring loaded fins made out of highly conductive materials or coatings. In some examples, a rotating power connector is affixed to a torch before the power connection to a wire feeder. The rotating power connector advantageously allows for rotation of the welding torch relative to the unicable while providing continual electrical connection at the high current levels employed in welding applications.

Locking mechanisms in a laser nozzle holder

A nozzle holder for a laser processing head of a laser processing system is provided. The nozzle holder includes a substantially cylindrical hollow body shaped to matingly engage a laser nozzle. The hollow body defines a longitudinal axis extending therethrough and a plurality of apertures dispersing around a circumference of the hollow body. The nozzle holder also includes a plurality of pawls configured to operably engage the laser nozzle within the hollow body by extending through the plurality of apertures of the hollow body. The nozzle holder further includes a sleeve substantially surrounding the hollow body and the plurality of pawls. The sleeve includes a pawl retractor that is movable along the longitudinal axis to physically displace the plurality of pawls axially and radially relative to the longitudinal axis for disengagement of the plurality of pawls from the laser nozzle.
