Pipeline and manufacturing method thereof

A pipeline is a pipeline having plural weld zones in which ends of plural steel pipes are joined by welding, the plural steel pipes are produced from plural charges of molten steel having one or more steel compositions; yield point elongation is not present on a stress-strain curve obtained when stress is applied in a longitudinal direction of each of the steel pipes; a thickness of each of the steel pipes t (mm) and an average pipe outside-diameter D (mm) satisfy t/D×100≦6; and in the plurality of the weld zones, ΔYS which is a yield strength difference between one steel pipe and the other steel pipe that are welded to each other (MPa), and YR representing a yield ratio that is a ratio of the yield strength to tensile strength of a pipe having a low yield strength out of the one steel pipe and the other steel pipe, satisfy ΔYS≦−1.75×YR+230.

LONG STEEL PIPE FOR REEL-LAY INSTALLATION AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

A long steel pipe for reel-lay installation formed of electric resistance welded (ERW) steel pipes and having high buckling resistance and a method for producing the long steel pipe for reel-lay installation are provided. The long steel pipe is formed by successively butt-joining longitudinal ends of the ERW steel pipes by girth welding so that girth welds are formed. The ERW steel pipes are successively butt-joined in the pipe longitudinal direction such that the 0 o'clock cross-sectional position or the 6 o'clock cross-sectional position of one of adjacent ERW steel pipes faces an area from the 2 o'clock cross-sectional position to the 4 o'clock cross-sectional position or an area from the 8 o'clock cross-sectional position to the 10 o'clock cross-sectional position of the other of the adjacent ERW steel pipes.

Techniques for Joining Lined Pipelines
20170227150 · 2017-08-10 ·

A connector for lined pipelines includes a tube having opposed male interface elements extending inwardly from respective ends of the tube. One or more circumferential permeable chokes project radially from each male interface element. The chokes minimise flow of oxidising fluid from the bore into the micro-annulus between the liner and the pipe while maximising flow of fluid from the micro-annulus into the bore in the event of catastrophic pressure drop in the bore. To maintain gaps between the tube ends and the pipe liners for fluid flow, shoulder formations extend circumferentially around the tube. The connector may be used in a joint arrangement where each liner includes a body, an end of lesser thickness and greater bore than the body that terminates short of an end of the pipe, an inner step between the body and the end, and an outer step between the end and the pipe.

Orbital welding torch systems and methods with lead/lag angle stop
09770775 · 2017-09-26 · ·

The invention described herein generally pertains to systems and methods related to repeatable and accurate setting of welding torch lead and lag positions, particularly with orbital welding systems. Specifically, a torch is coupled with a lead-lag coupler having a stop lug. A stop set with a stop pin is rotated to a desired position of lead or lag and secured. The lead-lag coupler, and torch which rotates therewith, are then unsecured and rotated until the stop lug contacts the stop pin. In this position, the torch is maintained at the desired angle. The stop pin remains in place throughout operation(s) to permit quick, accurate return to the desired angle if the torch is temporarily moved out of position.

JOINT-SITE STRUCTURE FOR COMPONENTS TO BE CONNECTED BY MEANS OF OVERLAP FRICTION WELDING, AND METHOD FOR CONNECTING COMPONENTS BY MEANS OF FRICTION WELDING

A joint-site structure for components to be connected by overlap friction welding. At least one step of at least one component, on which an axially set-back ring-shaped joining surface is situated, is provided with a radial undercut, in such a manner that on the face side, a region of this step that is unchanged in diameter forms a radial support ridge, which is connected with the at least one component by way of a heat throttle that is reduced in cross-section. The length of each step is designed in such a manner that when the face surface of the one component makes contact with the ring-shaped joining surface of the other component, the other face surfaces of these components, which surfaces lie opposite one another in the same radial position, are still exposed until completion of the friction-welding process.
