A method includes positioning a braze material along a defect of a component of a turbine system, positioning a cover over the braze material, and focusing a heat source on the cover to melt the braze material along the defect.

HEAT EXCHANGER AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING HEAT EXCHANGER

Mg and Bi are contained in each of a first fillet in a first braze joining portion in which a tube and a fin join, a second fillet in a second braze joining portion in which the tube and a header plate join, and a third fillet in a third braze joining portion in which the header plate and a tank body join. A concentration of Mg of each of the first to third fillets is from 0.2% or more to 2.0% or less by mass. When the tube includes a brazing material layer, a concentration of Mg of the tube at its plate thickness center is from 0.1% or more to 1.0% or less by mass. When the fin includes a brazing material layer, a concentration of Mg of the fin at its plate thickness center is from 0.2% or more to 1.0% or less by mass.

METHOD FOR JOINING ALUMINUM MATERIAL

A method for joining an aluminum material includes, in the following order, arranging a first wrought aluminum alloy material along a first jig in an internal space defined between the first jig and a second jig that is arranged to face the first jig and has a pouring port, pouring molten aluminum toward the first wrought aluminum alloy material through the pouring port under pressure to cause the molten aluminum to collide with a surface of the first wrought aluminum alloy material, thereby digging down the first wrought aluminum alloy material at a collision position between the molten aluminum and the first wrought aluminum alloy material, and flowing the molten aluminum together with a fraction of the first wrought aluminum alloy material removed by digging within the internal space along a surface of the first wrought aluminum alloy material around the collision position.

PROCESSING APPARATUS

An arrangement for welded conductors for power transmission cables is provided, with conductors welded by a high conductive welding material. A method is also provided for production of welded conductors and power transmission cables including the welded conductors.

Aluminum material for fluxfree CAB brazing

An aluminum alloy brazing sheet has a 3XXX, 1XXX or 6XXX core, an interliner and a 4XXX brazing layer without added Mg. The interliner has Bi and Mg, the magnesium migrating to the surface of the brazing sheet during brazing and reducing the aluminum oxide to facilitate brazing without flux in a controlled inert atmosphere with reduced oxygen.

Method for laser welding metal workpieces using a combination of weld paths
11491580 · 2022-11-08 · ·

A method of laser welding together two or more overlapping metal workpieces (12, 14, or 12, 150, 14) included in a welding region (16) of a workpiece stack-up (10) involves advancing a beam spot (44) of a laser beam (24) relative to a top surface (20) of the workpiece stack-up along a first weld path (72) in a first direction (74) to form an elongated melt puddle (76) and, then, advancing the beam spot (44) of the laser beam (24) along a second weld path (78) in a second direction (80) that is opposite of the first direction while the elongated melt puddle is still in a molten state. The first weld path and the second weld path overlap so that the beam spot of the laser beam is conveyed through the elongated melt puddle when the beam spot is advanced along the second weld path.

Devices and Methods for Performing Shear-Assisted Extrusion and Extrusion Processes

The present disclosure provides methods for preparing an extruded product from a solid billet. The methods can include providing an as-cast billet for extrusion; applying a simultaneous rotational shear and axial extrusion force to the as-cast billet to plasticize the as-cast billet; and extruding the plasticized as-cast billet with an extrusion die to form an extruded product. Methods for preparing extruded products from billets can also include: providing a billet for extrusion; while maintaining a majority of the billet below 100° C., applying a simultaneous rotational shear and axial extrusion force to one end of the billet to plasticize the one end of the billet; and extruding the plasticized one end of the billet with an extrusion die to form an extruded product. Methods for preparing an extruded product from a billet can also include providing a billet for extrusion; applying a simultaneous rotational shear and axial extrusion force to the billet to plasticize the billet; extruding the plasticized billet with an extrusion die to form an extruded product; and artificially aging the extruded product for less than the ASTM recommended amount of time.
