COOLING METHOD AND PRODUCTION SYSTEM

A method for controlling a temperature of a cooling device taking into account heating at least one machine component of a process machine during operation of the process machine is provided. The method includes ascertaining an expected thermal energy acting upon the at least one machine component within a temporal processing part of a control program that controls the operation of the process machine. The expected thermal energy is ascertained based a processing power provided within the temporal processing part for the at least one machine component. The method further includes determining a required heat dissipating capability of the cooling device for dissipating the expected thermal energy, and preconditioning the cooling device in advance in order to provide the required heat dissipating capability until the expected thermal energy acts upon the machine component.

ELECTROSTATIC CHUCK

An electrostatic chuck includes a dielectric substrate, an attraction electrode provided inside the dielectric substrate, and a base plate joined to the dielectric substrate. In top view, the dielectric substrate includes a protrusion section which protrudes outward from a surface to be joined of the base plate, and a part of the attraction electrode is provided in the protrusion section.

Device and method for detecting an approach of a tool to a workpiece

A device for determining an approach of a tool to a workpiece in a machine tool with internal cooling supply includes a measuring arrangement, having a measuring graduation arranged in a rotationally fixed manner on a shaft and at least one position sensor arranged in a fixed manner relative to the shaft, and a data processor. The position sensor is adapted to scan the measuring graduation and to generate position values therefrom that indicate a position of the shaft. The position values are fed to the data processor, which, by evaluating a progression of the position values when the tool approaches the workpiece, determines that the tool is located in an approach area relative to the workpiece, and signals, by an approach signal, when the tool reaches an approach position relative to the workpiece, in which the tool is close to the workpiece without touching it.

An operation panel for a machine tool includes: a first case that accommodates a cooling target object; a blower device that is disposed in the first case; and an air guide member that forms an air flow passage in the first case and that guides air blown out from the blower device toward the cooling target object through the air flow passage. The air flow passage includes an expanded flow passage section in which a flow passage area of the air flow passage increases from an upstream side of an airflow toward a downstream side of the airflow.

COOLANT DELIVERY HEAD FOR WHIRLING AND METHODS

A coolant delivery head for whirling material stock. The coolant delivery head comprising a one-piece plate like structure sized to fit between the guide bushing and whirling unit of a CNC Swiss turning machine. The coolant delivery head comprises an intake port to receive high pressure coolant through a coolant supply line. Coolant channels internal to the delivery head body, channel the coolant to a first and second delivery port and a blow port. The delivery ports are angled to deliver coolant directly at cutter inserts in the whirling unit during operation. The blow port blows coolant towards the tailstock of the machine. The coolant delivery head comprises one or more fastener holes for receiving fasteners to secure the coolant delivery head to a whirling unit. Precise delivery of the coolant results in higher quality machined products and less tool wear.
