GRINDING MACHINE AND METHOD FOR GRINDING WORKPIECES THAT HAVE AXIAL BORES AND PLANAR EXTERNAL SURFACES TO BE MACHINED ON BOTH SIDES
A grinding machine for machining workpieces includes a workpiece headstock and two grinding headstocks. A first grinding headstock has two grinding spindles each with one grinding wheel for grinding first and second planar and non-planar external surfaces. A second grinding headstock has a grinding spindle having a grinding wheel for grinding a central bore in the workpiece, and a clamping device to clamp the workpiece. First, the bore and the first planar and any non-planar external surface are ground on one side of the workpiece. Then, the workpiece is clamped in the bore. The second planar external surface can then be ground in the same grinding machine with one of the grinding wheels of the first headstock. The clamping device attached to the second grinding headstock is such that the central axis of the clamping device is exactly aligned with the central axis of the workpiece headstock.

Cutting tool and machining method
A cutting tool includes: a cutting part including a cutting edge having a linear shape; and a fitted part including a fixed section to which the cutting part is fixed, and a fitted part body to be fitted to a cutting device. The cutting edge is located perpendicularly to a virtual line passing through a central axis of the fitted part body, on a plane that is perpendicular to the central axis of the fitted part body. A center of the cutting edge in its longitudinal direction is located on the virtual line.
CYBER-PHYSICAL SYSTEM TYPE MACHINING SYSTEM
A cyber-physical system type machining system includes: a machine tool disposed in a real world and including a machine body and a control device; and a computer device connected to communicate with the control device and including a processor and a memory storing a program for generating, in a virtual world, a virtual machining phenomenon corresponding to an actual machining phenomenon with regard to a workpiece and the machine body. The program, when executed by the processor, causes the computer device to perform: acquiring a command value in synchronization with the control device, the command value for controlling the machine body by the control device; generating a future virtual machining phenomenon, which is the virtual machining phenomenon in a future, based on the command value; and outputting, to the control device, an optimal command value for correcting the command value based on the future virtual machining phenomenon.
Counterbalanced tire profile generating machine
A tire grinding machine includes a frame having a plurality of vertically extending posts. A chuck assembly is associated with the frame and adapted to receive and rotate a tire. A grinding assembly is associated with the frame and is movable with respect to the frame. The grinding assembly has at least one grinding element adapted to contact and remove material from the tire when rotated by the chuck assembly. A counterbalance assembly which has a cable with one end connected to a counterbalance weight and an opposite end connected to the grinding assembly is included. A block assembly may be coupled to the grinding assembly to allow pivotable movement thereof. A calibration adapter may be used to ensure proper positioning of the grinding elements, wherein a level adjuster may be used for this purpose.
SAFETY GUARDS AND EQUIPMENT FOR USE IN THE PREPARATION OF TEST SPECIMENS
A system for polishing an outer surface of a specimen, the system including a motor and a rotatable shaft extending from a first end of the motor, wherein the specimen is removably attachable to the rotatable shaft, a safety cover configured to at least partially surround at least a portion of the rotatable shaft, wherein the safety cover includes a top panel, a first side panel and a second side panel spaced from each other across a width of the safety cover and extending downwardly from the top panel, and at least one aperture extending through at least one of the first and second side panels. The system further includes an abrasive material insertable through the at least one aperture so that the abrasive material is positionable to contact the outer surface of the specimen.
