ANTIMICROBIAL COMPOSITION
An antiseptic composition suitable for use on skin and wounds comprising a source of an antimicrobial agent and an agent which disrupts biofilms. More, particularly the invention relates to a composition capable of providing effective antimicrobial activity while at the same time avoiding wound and skin irritation and retardation of wound healing.
Antimicrobial Gels
The present invention pertains to antimicrobial compositions comprising inter alia at least one alkenyl- and/or alkynyl-substituted polysiloxane, at least one polysiloxane comprising silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms, and at least one hydrosilylation catalyst, as well as antimicrobial silicone gels, wound dressings, and methods of preparing the above.
Antibacterial conductive self-healing hydrogel
A hydrogel includes a polysaccharide including aldehyde groups and carboxy groups, a functionalized chitosan, and iron (III) ions. The hydrogel further includes particles including a core including a carboxy-functionalized polythiophene and a shell including polydopamine. A wound dressing includes the hydrogel and a base layer selected from the group consisting of a gauze, lint, plaster, bandage and cotton wool. The hydrogel is attached or adhered to the base layer.
SODIUM CONTAINING SOL-GEL DERIVED BIOACTIVE GLASSES AND USES THEREOF INCLUDING HEMOSTASIS
A sol-gel bioactive glass precursor, method for making sol-gel glasses, resultant sol-gel bioactive glasses, and methods of use thereof, which include introducing Na.sub.2O into the glass network during the sol-gel process through the use of Na-ethoxide, NaCI, or sodium silicate rather than sodium nitrate. Medical and industrial uses of such glasses.
Bioactive polymeric dressing for accelerated wound closure
A wound dressing includes: a structural material formed into a dressing; at least one immunomodulatory agent associated with the dressing; and a growth factor associated with the dressing. A wound dressing kit includes: a structural material formed into a wound dressing; an immunomodulatory agent; and a growth factor composition, wherein the structural material contains the immunomodulatory agent and/or the immunomodulatory agent in a separate composition. A method of treating a wound in a tissue includes: applying an immunomodulatory agent to the wound; applying a wound dressing to the wound; and allowing the wound to heal with the immunomodulatory agent and wound dressing. The application of a growth factor can be before, during and/or after applying the wound dressing to the wound.
Constituent for preventing and/or treating skin wounds
The invention provides a constituent that is used with a novel method for preventing and/or treating skin wounds and ensures stable delivery of low-concentration hydrogen sulfide to a wound site. The skin wound-preventing and/or treating constituent includes a sustained hydrogen sulfide releasing agent that is preferably a layered double hydroxide having HS and/or Sk2- between layers where k is a positive integer.
METHODS FOR APPLYING A SKIN TREATMENT
The inventive subject matter provides kits, compositions and methods for treating or covering skin using a polymerizable formulation. The polymerizable formulation can include a first component including a siloxane polymer and a catalyst, and a second component including a siloxane polymer and a cross-linker. The first and second components, when combined, can form a film or seal having an elasticity that at least one of decreases the formation of fibroblasts, presses down blisters, decreases a biochemical cascade that promotes scar formation, compresses skin, and holds skin in a desired configuration.
REMOVABLE FILM FORMING GEL COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR THEIR APPLICATION
Film forming gel compositions, useful in creating conformable and flexible gel bandages, can be formulate from a film forming polymer, a tackifier, and a volatile solvent. The film forming gels can also include antiseptics, cationic polymer coagulants, fillers, and other additives. The gel compositions form relatively thick films when dried on tissue, and can exhibit enhanced breathability to promote wound healing.
SKIN COMPOSITION
It is an object of the present invention to provide a film-forming composition for skin (such as a film-type skin protectant or a film-type skin topical agent) that does not contain a lower monohydric alcohol such as ethanol or isopropanol, is excellent in quick-drying properties and water resistance, is less sticky, and is excellent in feeling of use. The present invention relates to a film-forming composition for skin which contains a specific acrylic polymer, a plasticizer and water and is substantially free of a lower monohydric alcohol such as ethanol or isopropanol. The composition of the present invention is extremely useful for treatment of chronic skin diseases (that is, skin diseases in which skin barrier function is deteriorated) represented by hand eczema, atopic dermatitis, and the like.
WOUND CARE COMPOSITIONS
Glass-based particles of a biocompatible material which comprises 40 to about 80 wt % borate (B.sub.2O.sub.3) intermixed into a carrier which is an ointment, cream, or surgical glue.
