SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MAKING ABRASIVE ARTICLES
Methods of making an abrasive article. Abrasive particles are loaded to a distribution tool including a plurality of walls defining a plurality of slots. Each slot is open to a lower side of the tool. The loaded particles are distributed from the distribution tool to a major face of a backing web below the lower side and moving relative to the tool. At least a majority of the particles distributed from the tool undergo an orientation sequence in which each particle first enters one of the slots. The particle then passes partially through the slot such that a first portion is beyond the lower side and in contact with the major face, and a second portion within the slot. The sequence then includes the particle remaining in simultaneous contact with one of the walls and the major face for a dwell period while the web moves relative to the tool.
Method to provide an abrasive product surface and abrasive products thereof
The invention relates to obtaining an abrasive product comprising a surface with multiple abrasive zones supported by a backing layer. The abrasive zone are surrounded by interconnected channel portions comprising first channel portions with a first transverse dimension td1 and second channel portions with a second transverse dimension td2 larger than the first transverse dimension td1.
Method and tool for maintenance of hard surfaces, and a method for manufacturing such a tool
A method is disclosed for maintaining a hard surface, the method comprising treating the surface with a flexible pad (1), in the presence of abrasive particles, bonded to the pad, on a contact surface between the pad (1) and the hard surface. The abrasive particles comprise diamond particles, and the treating is performed in the absence of an effective amount of crystallization agent on the contact surface. A tool for use in the method is also provided, as well as a floor surfacing machine comprising such a tool and a method for manufacturing such a tool.
THIN PLASTIC POLISHING ARTICLE FOR CMP APPLICATIONS
A method and apparatus for polishing a substrate that includes a polishing article comprising a polymeric sheet having a raised surface texture, which is formed on the surface of the polymeric sheet is provided. According to one or more implementations of the present disclosure, an advanced polishing article has been developed, which does not require abrasive pad conditioning. In some implementations of the present disclosure, the advanced polishing article comprises a polymeric sheet having a polishing surface with a raised surface texture or micro-features and/or a plurality of grooves or macro-features formed in the polishing surface. In some implementations, the raised surface texture is embossed, etched, machined or otherwise formed in the polishing surface prior to installing and using the advanced polishing article in a polishing system. In one implementation, the raised features have a height within one order of magnitude of the features removed from the substrate during polishing.
Nonwoven abrasive article with extended life
Abrasive articles including a non-woven web of staple fibers that form a single layer that is free of any additional layers of non-woven webs of staple fibers. The abrasive articles contain abrasive particles bound to the non-woven web. The abrasive articles can be compressed abrasive articles that include a non-woven web of staple fibers, including blends of staple fibers having a first portion of fibers having a first linear density and a second portion of fibers having a second linear density.
AN ABRASIVE PRODUCT AND A METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SUCH
An abrasive product having an abrasive surface, a belt of an abrasive product, a roll of an abrasive product and a method for manufacturing an abrasive product. An abrasive product includes a backing and an abrasive surface. The abrasive surface includes at least a first abrasive area and a second abrasive area, wherein abrasive properties of the first abrasive area are different from abrasive properties of the second abrasive area.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MAKING ABRASIVE ARTICLES
Methods of making an abrasive article. Abrasive particles are loaded to a distribution tool defining a plurality of slots that are open to an exterior of the tool. The loaded particles are distributed from the distribution tool to a major face of a backing web below the lower side and moving relative to the tool. Some of the loaded particles become oriented in a respective one of the slots and are then dispensed on to the major face. In this regard, during the step of distributing, a plurality of the oriented particles is simultaneously at least partially within a first slot and in contact with major face. In some embodiments, the distribution tool includes a plurality of aligned rings; adjacent ones of the rings are attached to, and longitudinally separated from, one another by one or more spacer bodies.
Composite body and method of manufacturing it
Composite body comprises nanofibrillar cellulose (NFC) together with abrasive particles (AP). The nanofibrillar cellulose forms a 3-dimensional connecting network for the abrasive particles (AP). The abrasive particles have a hardness above 7 on Mohs scale. The composite body is used for grinding, polishing or cutting.
METHOD OF TRANSFERRING PARTICLES TO A SUBSTRATE
An apparatus and method for transferring particles by the use of a transfer tool to at least a portion of which is applied a vacuum to cause particles to jump from a particle source to the transfer tool.
Aggregates of diamond with vitrified bond
The present disclosure relates to abrasive aggregates comprised of abrasive particles in a vitreous binder composition, and methods of making and using such abrasive aggregates, including in abrasive articles. The abrasive aggregates can include modifier particles. The abrasive aggregates can include a layer of outer particles on at least a portion of the outer surface of the abrasive aggregate.
