COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR APPLICATION OVER SKIN

Disclosed herein are compositions that can form a covering, layer, film, device, and/or prosthetic skin that can be comfortably worn to provide skin barrier function, skin hydration and therapeutic and aesthetic benefits. The present invention provides novel compositions that have low tackiness and form quickly, resulting in a wearable, comfortable (maintains temperature and humidity), breathable, thin, optically invisible, cosmetically elegant, flexible, stretchable, elastic and body-movement conforming, yet long-lasting covering, layer, film, device, and/or prosthetic skin on the skin or any other body surface. The present invention provides novel compositions that can form a covering, layer, film, device, and/or prosthetic skin that works for extended periods in excess of about 24 hours, while retaining function during and after exercising, showering and swimming (in sea-water, fresh water and chlorinated water), steam room (heat at high humidity), and sauna (heat at low humidity).

Hemostatic Paste Having Surface Enriched with Hemostasis-Promoting Agents and Devices for Delivery
20210228767 · 2021-07-29 ·

The present invention is directed to a hemostatic semi-solid paste material comprising a bioabsorbable carrier hemostatic material; and a supplemental hemostatic agent; wherein the paste material has an elongated form extending along a lengthwise axis with an aspect ratio of at least 3; wherein the paste is self-supporting and syringe extrudable; and wherein the supplemental hemostatic agent has a non-homogenous distribution profile across a cross-section taken across the lengthwise axis. In another aspect, the present invention relates to devices for forming and expressing the hemostatic material.

A biphasic hydrogel formulation and methods of production and use thereof
20210170068 · 2021-06-10 ·

The present invention provides a biphasic formulation, comprising a liquid layer on the outside and an elastic hydrogel wherein the water formed on the surface of the elastic gel is physically cooling the skin by evaporating and to give a first boost of the active ingredients directly when placing on the skin of humans or animals. The biphasic formulation according to the present invention may be arranged in a hydrogel patch which creates an environment that relieves or promotes the healing process for the treatment of insect bites, sunburn, erythema, pruritus, acne, dry skin or callus. In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a biphasic hydrogel composition, comprising 6% or less PVA, physical crosslinking, glycerol as humectant and the use of water impermeable packaging to reach equilibrium of the syneresis and preserve the moisture of the gel during long-term storage.

Adhesive composition for wound closure

Stabilized monomer and polymer adhesive compositions useful in the formulation of biomedical adhesives and sealants for application to living tissue are provided.

COLOR CHANGING SILK PATCH FOR VISIBLE ROS DETECTION

An electrospun nanofibrous silk fibroin mat infused with a reactive oxygen species (ROS) detection reagent is presented herein. The ROS detection agent may be Amplex red. A method of real time detection of ROS in a wound site to determine the need for a dressing change is also presented. The method includes applying an electrospun nanofibrous silk fibroin mat infused with Amplex red to a wound site of a patient and detecting a change in color of the mat. A color change indicates a higher than normal level of ROS in the wound site. Depending on the degree of color change, a therapeutic agent may be administered to the wound site and a new mat applied to measure ROS in the wound site after therapy is administered.

DIFFERENTIAL CONTRAST WOUND FILLER
20210146020 · 2021-05-20 ·

A tissue interface having visually contrasting portions, systems for using the same, and methods of manufacturing the same are provided. The wound filler includes a first portion having a first color and a second portion having a second color. The second color contrasts to the first color. The first color and the second color both contrast to red and purple. The first color and the second color are complementary.

NANOFIBER-REINFORCED HYDROGEL MEDICAL DRESSINGS

Medical dressings include a non-woven polymeric nanofiber mat embedded within a chitosan hydrogel matrix. The dressings may be obtained by electro spinning of polymeric nanofibers and thereafter incorporating a chitosan hydrogel into interstices of the mat by vacuum or positive pressure assistance. The resulting medical dressings may be optically transparent (e.g., at least about 50% up to about 95% light transmittance), flexible, and mechanically robust. The dressings may also incorporate self-adhesion promoters to allow self-adhesion to biological tissue, e.g., ocular surfaces, and/or therapeutic agents which are capable of delivering therapeutics (e.g. stem cells, drugs and the like) to the tissue surface. The dressings are especially useful as ocular bandages for the treatment and repair of ocular wounds.

Haemostatic material

The present invention relates to a haemostatic material comprising a carrier layer and a material for wound contact comprising at least one haemostat in particulate, granular, powder, flake or short fibrous form. Such a haemostatic material is useful, for example, in reducing or stopping bleeding of a physiological target site in a person or animal, and can also be used to stem bleeding during medical procedures.
