OVER TORQUE PREVENTION DEVICE
20180112703 · 2018-04-26 ·

An over torque prevention device includes a cap a cap configured for attachment to and removal from a threaded fastening member. The cap has a first portion shaped to engage a head of the threaded fastening member and a second portion having a surface feature shaped to receive a driver tool for applying a torque to rotate the cap and the threaded fastening member. The cap is formed of a material that has a lower shear strength than the material of the threaded fastening member. When a driver tool is used to engage the surface feature of the cap and apply an increasing torque, the surface feature or other portion of the cap deforms at a torque limit value such that further application of torque to the threaded fastening member is prevented.

A fortified plastic disposable driver having a plastic generally conical nose with a top and bottom, the bottom formed as part of or affixed to the flat top of a body and the top of the nose having a square channel guide with corners, is disclosed. The channel accepts a tool or shaft. At 90 degree orientation from each other are four pairs of force buttressing ribs wherein they have a bottom affixed at said flat top, and each has a support edge affixed to an annular outer wall of the nose. The four pairs of ribs, each pair being positioned along one of the four sides of the square channel. In some instances, each rib further comprises an interior edge and an outer edge, and each outer edge is aligned with a corner. A body and/or handle are used therewith to impart torque for use.

Power tool having circuit board

A power tool includes a housing, a motor, an output unit, and a circuit board unit. The motor is accommodated in the housing and has a rotational axis extending in a top-bottom direction. The output unit is disposed above the motor and extends in a front-rear direction. A power cable is configured to be connected to a power source and is connected to the circuit board unit. The circuit board unit is accommodated in the housing. The circuit board unit comprises a switching element for driving the motor, and a rectifying device configured to rectify an alternating current from the power source to a direct current. The circuit board unit is disposed below the motor and extends in the front-rear direction in the housing.

Method and tool for installing a fastener

A method is provided for installing a fastener into an opening of a structure. The fastener includes a sleeve and a pin threadably received into the sleeve. The method includes inserting the fastener into the opening, grabbing a pintail of the pin, and deforming a tail of the sleeve radially outward relative to a centerline axis of the fastener by automatically displacing the pin longitudinally along the centerline axis relative to the sleeve. The method also includes rotationally shearing the pintail of the pin from a shaft of the pin.

NUT-FASTENING TOOL

An operation switch sends an ON signal to a control processor indicating the operation switch is triggered by a user. A magnetic sensor sends a sensor signal to the control processor based on a displacement of a chip rod in a rearward direction. In the case where the sensor signal has not yet been sent, the control processor performs a control in a first mode where a brushless DC motor is not driven. In the case where sensor signal is sent, control processor performs a control in a second mode wherein the brushless DC motor is driven. An output in the first mode is lower than in the second mode. Because of this manner of construction, even if an ON input is triggered and held by the user, electric power is conserved while the operation switch is switched on and a hexagonal nut is not fastened, improving power consumption efficiency.

Bidirectional ramped disposable torque limiting device

A bidirectional torque limiting driver with a handle, internal wall, movable head and a tool mounted thereon, with flexible torque limiting flex ramp(s) formed on said internal wall, whereby said ramps move under sufficient force to impart a predetermined torque to a tip is disclosed.

System and method for nut swaging verification

An apparatus comprises an outer shell, a gauge ring, and a spring. The gauge ring is configured to rotate to a first position as a nut passes through an opening of the outer shell and contacts a bottom surface of the gauge ring, the first position permitting the nut to pass through the gauge ring and into a socket by aligning one or more gauge ring lobe slits with one or more outer shell lobe slits and one or more deformable lobes of the nut. The spring is configured to rotate the gauge ring to the second position after the nut passes through the gauge ring and into the socket, the second position preventing the nut from exiting the socket by preventing alignment of the one or more gauge ring lobe slits with the one or more outer shell lobe slits.

METHOD AND TOOL FOR INSTALLING A FASTENER

A tool is provided for installing a fastener, having a sleeve and a pin threadably received into the sleeve, into an opening of a structure. The tool includes a frame, a clamp mounted to the frame such that the clamp is configured to move longitudinally relative to the frame, the clamp being configured to grab a pintail of the pin of the fastener, a linear actuator operatively connected to the clamp such that the linear actuator is configured to drive linear movement of the clamp relative to the frame, a wrench mounted to the frame such that the wrench is configured to rotate relative to the frame, the wrench being configured to grab the pintail of the pin, and a rotary actuator operatively connected to the wrench such that the rotary actuator is configured to drive rotation of the wrench relative to the frame.

Torque limiting tool and method for using the same

A torque limiting tool, method for using the same, and set of torque limiting tools according to different loads are arranged for adjusting a device to a predetermined load, and preventing further adjustment once the predetermined load is reached.
