Disinfection method and apparatus
Photosensitizers are incorporated into articles, such a personal protective equipment. A method of applying continuous and consistent light includes fitting the articles with light sources and optical fibers to apply light to the areas of the articles incorporated with the photosensitizers. Photosensitizers can be applied to articles by various applicators in either a gel or solution. A gel can be particularly effective when used on hydrophobic surfaces. Photodynamic reactor systems can be used to determine the effective doses of photosensitizers and the light dosimetry which can then be applied for use with the articles.

End-capped polyisobutylene polyurethane
A polymeric material includes a polyisobutylene-polyurethane block copolymer. The polyisobutylene-polyurethane block copolymer includes soft segments, hard segments, and end groups. The soft segments include a polyisobutylene diol residue. The hard segments include a diisocyanate residue. The end groups are bonded by urea bonds to a portion of the diisocyanate residue. The end groups include a residue of a mono-functional amine.
Adhesion prevention film for medical devices and medical device
This adhesion prevention film for medical devices is a single-layer or multilayer adhesion prevention film that is formed on the surface of a medical device. This adhesion prevention film for medical devices comprises an outermost layer that contains a plurality of conductive particles and a resin having a continuously usable temperature of 200° C. or higher. The surface of the outermost layer is provided with recesses and projections by having parts of the plurality of conductive particles exposed from the resin.
Alternative use for hydrogel intrasaccular occlusion device with vertically oriented reinforcement members for structural support
A device for endovascular treatment to ameliorate aneurysm recurrences by deploying a treatment mesh having a plurality of vertically oriented elongated support reinforcement elements that are substantially parallel and oriented upon a plane in communication with the mesh. Upon deployment, the array of distal ends of the support extensions and reinforcements are substantially oriented upon a plane, which plane is in substantially the same orientation as the opening of the aneurysm into which the device was deployed. The treatment mesh may incorporate a coating of hydrogel, optionally impregnated with pharmaceutical compounds.
ENDOSCOPIC FLEXIBLE TUBE, ENDOSCOPIC MEDICAL APPARATUS, AND ENDOSCOPIC-FLEXIBLE-TUBE-BASE-COVERING MATERIAL
An endoscopic flexible tube including a flexible-tube base containing metal as a constituent material, and a cover layer covering an outer periphery of the flexible-tube base, wherein the cover layer includes a polyester having a naphthalene structure and a component having an action of inhibiting a reaction of an active species such as a radical, an endoscopic medical apparatus including the endoscopic flexible tube, and a covering material for the endoscopic flexible-tube base.
Adhesion-preventing composition
[Problem] An adhesion-preventing material having a high adhesion-preventing effect has been demanded. [Solution] An adhesion-preventing material including a sterilized biocompatible sponge-like laminate, wherein the sponge-like laminate comprises a sponge-like first layer and a sponge-like second layer each of which is at least partially crosslinked with a curing agent and comprises a low-endotoxin alginic acid monovalent metal salt, the alginic acid monovalent metal salt in the first layer has a weight average molecular weight of 10,000 to 2,000,000, the alginic acid monovalent metal salt in the second layer has a weight average molecular weight of 1,000 to 1,000,000, the weight average molecular weights are measured by a GPC-MALS method after a decrosslinking treatment, and the weight average molecular weight of the alginic acid monovalent metal salt in the first layer is higher than that in the second layer.

Method of performing anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction using biodegradable interference screw
A method of replacing an ACL with a graft. The method provides for the drilling bone tunnels in a femur and a tibia. A replacement graft is provided having first and second ends. A biodegradable composite screw is provided. The screw is made from a biodegradable polymer and a bioceramic or a bioglass. At least one end of the graft is secured in a bone tunnel using the biodegradable composite screw.
Porous orthopedic materials coated with demineralized bone matrix
A biomaterial including a porous biocompatible structure having interconnected pores, wherein the pores have interior walls and are interconnected by passageways, the interior walls and passageways being coated with an osteoinductive aqueous demineralized bone extract solution, the aqueous demineralized bone extract solution including growth factors, proteins, a demineralized bone matrix and at least one of a weak acid and a guanidine hydrochloride, wherein the demineralized bone matrix is present per 100 g of the solution in an amount of from about 2 g to about 10 g.
