A folding knife includes a blade, first and second handle portions, a post, and an engaging plate. The post extends from the first handle portion. The blade is pivotable relative to the handle portions about a pivot axis between open and closed positions. The engaging plate is coupled to the second handle portion and is movable relative to the second handle portion between first and second positions. In the first position, the engaging plate engages the post, thereby restricting relative movement between the first and second handle portions in a direction parallel to the pivot axis and retaining the blade between the first and second handle portions. In the second position, the engaging plate disengages the post, thereby allowing relative movement between the first and second handle portions in the direction parallel to the pivot axis and allowing the blade to be separated from the first and second handle portions.

A folding knife includes a blade, first and second handle portions, a post, and an engaging plate. The post extends from the first handle portion. The blade is pivotable relative to the handle portions about a pivot axis between open and closed positions. The engaging plate is coupled to the second handle portion and is movable relative to the second handle portion between first and second positions. A folding knife includes a handle having a butt end opposed to a head end. A blade is pivotally connected to the head end of the handle. The blade has a cutting edge, a retracted position in which at least a portion of the cutting edge is inside the handle, and an extended position in which a majority of the cutting edge is outside the handle. A spring bar is connected to the handle and has a first end biased toward the blade at the head end of the handle. An insert is connected to the first end of the spring bar and separates the first end of the spring bar from the blade when the blade moves between the retracted and extended positions.

A folding knife has an elongated frame defining a major plane and having a pivot element at a pivot end and defining a pivot axis and the frame defining a blade receptacle, an elongated blade occupying the major plane having a tip end and a base end, a spine edge and a cutting edge, and opposed major faces, the base end connected to the pivot element, the blade being operable to pivot between a stowed position in which the blade is received in the blade receptacle and an extended position in which the tip end of the blade extends away from the frame, and the blade having a lock feature proximate the base end, a button lock element connected to the frame proximate the pivot element and operable to selectably engage the lock feature when the blade is in the extended position.

A self-defense pocket knife with handle of suitable proportion to be grasped in closed fist and a conveyance system configured for the emergency manual conveyance of a blade from a position for storage to a position for use without requiring the user to appreciably alter or compromise grip upon the handle during the course of such conveyance.

A switchblade includes a casing having first and second ends and a cavity. A blade has a cutting edge with a retracted position in which the cutting edge is inside the cavity and a deployed position in which the cutting edge extends outside of the cavity from the first end. A spring is operably connected to the blade to bias the blade to the deployed position. A lock at the first end has a hold position that engages with the blade to prevent movement of the blade with respect to the casing and a release position that permits movement of the blade with respect to the casing. An actuator at the second end extends through at least a portion of the casing. A lever connects the actuator to the lock so that the actuator can reposition the lock between the hold position and the release position.

A folding knife has an elongated blade having a pivot end and an opposed free end, the pivot end of the blade pivotally connected to a handle, the blade being movable between a closed position in which the blade is protectively received by the handle and an open position in which the blade extends away from the handle, a back lock element pivotally connected to the handle and having a block portion, the back lock element movable between a locked position in which the block portion operably contacts a portion of the pivot end of the blade to prevent movement of the blade from the open position to the closed position, and an unlocked position in which movement of the blade from the open position to the closed position is enabled, and a safety element movable between an engaged position and a disengaged position.

A folding knife has an elongated blade having a pivot end and an opposed free end, the pivot end of the blade pivotally connected to a handle, the blade being movable between a closed position in which the blade is protectively received by the handle and an open position in which the blade extends away from the handle, a liner lock element connected to the handle and having a block portion, the liner lock element movable between a locked position in which the block portion operably contacts a portion of the pivot end of the blade to prevent movement of the blade from the open position to the closed position, and an unlocked position in which movement of the blade from the open position to the closed position is enabled, and a safety element movable between an engaged position and a disengaged position.

A tool having a first portion defining a housing for receiving a second portion mobile in rotation between a first inactive position and a second active position, said tool equipped with at least one locking device in at least one position of said second portion, said device having a portion pivoting about a shaft perpendicular to its largest dimension between at least one position where one end of the second portion is engaged in a notch formed in the end of the first portion, and another position where it is disengaged from said notch, said part being configured for a return to the inactive position by at least one return member, at least the elongated part, its pivot shaft and the at least one return member being cutout in the first portion.

A folding knife is provided with a power storage device that can be charged and recharged by a charge component that wirelessly receives power from a remote source. In some embodiments, the folding knife can have a device that consumes energy such as a light, a camera, a microphone, an audio speaker, etc. The power storage device and the charge component can be positioned in a scale of the handle where the substantially planar shapes of the scale, the power storage device, and the charge component are oriented in a common direction. In some embodiments, the cavities, recesses, and channels in the first scale that house these components and linking wires are strategically positioned to leave a reinforcing area that provides strength and stiffness to the handle. Various features are also described herein that improve safety of the charging system.
