HAIR CUTTING APPLIANCE AND ASSOCIATED POWER TRANSFORM MODULE

A hair cutting appliance is presented including a body with a power switch and a power source. A drive system within the body is in selective electrical communication with the power source. A cutting unit is coupled to the drive system. An optical sensor is positioned to sense a pre-defined skin-hair edge in an area in front of the cutting unit. A switching element is in electrical communication with a control circuit and switchable between a conducting state to electrically connect the drive system and the power source and a non-conducting state to electrically isolate the drive system from the power source. The switching element is switched to the non-conducting state when a first sensed condition of the optical sensor exceeds a first pre-programed threshold. A power transform module is also provided that includes the optical sensor and is configured to be mounted to the body.

An adjustable bladeset for a hair clipper with a clipper housing includes a stationary blade having a stationary toothed end with a plurality of stationary teeth, an opposite stationary base end and an upper surface, and a moving blade having a moving toothed end with a plurality of moving teeth, the moving blade configured for reciprocal transverse movement relative to the stationary blade on the upper surface. The stationary blade is linearly displaceable relative to the moving blade by action of an adjustment lever on the clipper housing. A blade guide is on the upper surface at the stationary base end, and has at least one toothed strip. The adjustment lever is connected to a blade actuator shaft having at least one toothed cog configured to engage the toothed strip so that rotation of the actuator shaft causes the linear displacement of the stationary blade relative to the moving blade.

Beard trimmer
