Scribing wheel, method for manufacturing the scribing wheel, and scribing method
A scribing wheel for scribing a brittle material-made substrate. A disc-shaped scribing-wheel base material in use is so designed that a mid-portion of a disc periphery has the largest diameter. A diamond film is formed on the periphery by a CVD method. The periphery is ground in the middle so that a plane including a circle defined by ridge line becomes perpendicular to the central axis of the scribing wheel.
ULTRASONIC TOOL AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE TOOL
An ultrasonic cutting tool is designed for use in an ultrasonic instrument. The tool is a blade having a flat section manufactured from at least a first blade layer and second blade layer. The first and second blade layer each being a flat metal plate arranged in parallel to one another and bonded to one another.
CUTTING APPARATUS FOR HAIR OR FIBER AND A CUTTING DEVICE USING SAME
A cutting apparatus for hair or fiber protruding from a surface includes a roller, a number of cutting features disposed at an outer peripheral surface of the roller, wherein the number of cutting features is adapted for cutting the hair or fiber when the roller rotates in contact with the filamentous surface or is moved while in contact with the filamentous surface.
PELLETIZING KNIFE WITH REMOVABLE BLADE
A blade (6) for underwater granulation of an extruded polymer, this blade comprising a plate (60) bounded by a contour including a cutting edge contour (61) having a first end (62) and a second end (63), and an outer contour (64) linking the first end (62) and the second end (63) of the cutting edge contour (61),
characterized in that the outer contour (64) comprises at least a first bearing portion (65) and a second bearing portion (66), the first bearing portion (65) and the second bearing portion (66) diverging while extending away from the cutting edge contour (61) and being configured to be received in a dovetail housing (13).
Freeze Pop Package Clipper and A Method to Open Freeze Pop Packaging
A hand-held cutting device configured to safely, easily, and reliably remove the plastic tip of the plastic packaging of a Freeze Pop is disclosed. The device includes a housing with a slot into which the tip of the unopened Freeze Pop is inserted. Inside the slot is an internal cutting mechanism which produces a curved cut to remove the tip of the Freeze Pop. The tip then falls into a collection chamber which may be opened for easy disposal of plastic scraps. The entire device is storable on a magnetic surface via a removable magnetic component.
Method of perforating a nonlinear line of weakness
A method of perforating a web includes: rotating a cylinder comprising a longitudinal cylinder axis and at least one shaped anvil disposed on the cylinder; operatively engaging a support with the cylinder, wherein the support is moveable with respect to the cylinder; positioning a blade disposed on the support so as to cooperate in contacting relationship with the anvil, wherein the blade is substantially parallel to the longitudinal cylinder axis, and wherein at least one of the blade and the anvil comprise a plurality of teeth, and wherein adjacent teeth are separated by a recessed portion; and feeding a web between the cylinder and the support while the blade cooperates in contacting relationship with shaped anvil to perforate the web.
Systems and methods for implementing bulk metallic glass-based macroscale compliant mechanisms
Systems and methods in accordance with embodiments of the invention implement bulk metallic glass-based macroscale compliant mechanisms. In one embodiment, a bulk metallic glass-based macroscale compliant mechanism includes: a flexible member that is strained during the normal operation of the compliant mechanism; where the flexible member has a thickness of 0.5 mm; where the flexible member comprises a bulk metallic glass-based material; and where the bulk metallic glass-based material can survive a fatigue test that includes 1000 cycles under a bending loading mode at an applied stress to ultimate strength ratio of 0.25.
ULTRASONIC KNIFE AND ULTRASONIC CUTTING SYSTEM
An ultrasonic knife has a cutting portion formed with at least one cutting edge and a fastening portion. The fastening portion has an external thread for connection to a sonotrode. The cutting portion and the fastening portion are formed in one piece from cemented carbide material. The cemented carbide material includes hard particles that are, at least predominantly, formed by tungsten carbide and a metallic binder. The external thread of the fastening portion has a thread pitch p and is shaped such that the root of the thread turns has a rounded shape with a root radius R of 0.2*p≤R≤0.3*p.
CUTTING OF SOFT METALS WITH THE AID OF ULTRASOUND
Method for cutting soft metals, comprising the use of a cutting tool capable of being set in motion by ultrasonic vibration. The method is employed for cutting components used in the manufacture of an electrochemical storage device, for example, a lithium battery. These components include the anodes, the cathodes, the solid electrolytes, the current collectors and the separators. The method is also employed in a system for manufacturing and/or characterizing an electrochemical storage device.
COMPOSITE FORMED OF CUBIC BORON NITRIDE AND METHOD OF MAKING THEREOF
A cubic boron nitride (cBN)-based composite including about 30-65 vol. % cBN, about 15-45 vol. % titanium (Ti)-containing binders, about 2-20 vol. % zirconium dioxide (ZrO.sub.2), about 3-15 vol. % cobalt-tungsten-borides (Co.sub.xW.sub.yB.sub.z), and about 2-15 vol. % aluminum oxide (Al.sub.2O.sub.3).
