CUTOFF KNIFE SERRATION
A pair of cutoff knives configured for mounting on counter-rotating drums such that a serrated edge of one knife of the pair intermeshes with a serrated edge of the other knife of the pair to create a sinusoidal-shaped gap between the intermeshed serrated edges.
DEVICE FOR TRANSVERSE CUTTING OF A WEB MATERIAL AND MACHINE CONTAINING SAID DEVICE
The device includes a hollow cutting roller with a blade attached to the outer surface of the hollow roller. A stationary shaft is also provided, arranged inside the hollow roller and coaxial therewith. The stationary shaft is connected to a supporting structure and the hollow roller is rotatably supported onto the stationary shaft). A motor drive is provided to rotate the hollow roller around the stationary shaft. The hollow roller is supported onto the stationary shaft by at least a hydrostatic bearing arranged in an intermediate position between the ends of the stationary shaft.
DUAL AXIS CUTTING SYSTEMS AND WEB FINISHING METHODS
Cutting systems and methods capable of performing a variable cutting operation on a continuous web. The system includes a first cutting apparatus configured to receive the web and perform a cutting operation thereon to produce unfinished documents, and a second cutting apparatus configured to subsequently perform a trim cutting operation thereon to produce finished documents of selectively defined finished lengths, wherein the second cutting apparatus has a feed direction that is perpendicular to a feed direction of the first cutting apparatus. The system includes a conveyor system configured to receive the unfinished documents from the first cutting apparatus, arrange the unfinished documents into a stream of shingled documents traveling in the feed direction of the first cutting apparatus, and turn the unfinished documents at a right angle to travel in the feed direction of the second cutting apparatus without changing their orientation.
ULTRASOUND-INDUCED POSITIONING TYPE PUNCTURE ASSEMBLY AND SLEEVE TYPE SMALL NEEDLE KNIFE
An ultrasound-induced positioning type puncture assembly and a sleeve type small needle knife are provided. The small needle knife includes a cutting assembly and a puncture assembly. The puncture assembly includes a puncture needle core and a puncture sleeve; an annular groove facing an ultrasound equipment probe is formed in an outer wall of the puncture sleeve along a circumferential direction; and a cross section of the annular groove is of lug-shaped.
Perforator lubrication system
The lubrication device delivers a lubricant to the perforating device which provides intermittently spaced cuts to a moving web, also referred to as perforations. The lubrication device includes a retaining member, a plenum, and a comb having a plurality of comb channels. The plenum and the plurality of comb channels are in fluid communication with one another and deliver a lubricant to the perforating device. Lubrication of the perforating device in this manner may improve knife life, perforation quality and web handling.
Silicone Membrane Slitting Machine and Method
A mechanism and a method for slitting silicone membranes using automated slitting blades is presented. The pattern of slits in the membrane can be adjusted by using a cutting cylinder comprised of a plurality of circular cutting gears assembled in parallel.
The cutting cylinder is of indefinite length, but in the preferred embodiment is approximately 15″ long and 3″ in diameter. The silicone membrane can range in thickness from 0.005″ to 0.01″ inch.
MODULAR UNITS, CLAMPING ASSEMBLIES, AND SLICING MACHINES EQUIPPED THEREWITH
A modular unit configured for mounting to a cutting head of a slicing machine and for securing a knife to the cutting head, and slicing machines equipped with one or more of such modular units. The modular unit includes mounting blocks adapted to be spaced apart in an axial direction of the cutting head, and a clamping assembly assembled with the mounting blocks so as to extend between the mounting blocks. The clamping assembly is configured to secure a knife to the cutting head, and at least portions of the clamping assembly may be removable from the cutting head by disassembling the clamping assembly from the mounting blocks without removing the mounting blocks from the cutting head.

Knife assemblies for slicing machines and machines equipped therewith
Knife assemblies adapted for use in slicing machines includes a knife holder having a support surface that defines an outer upper surface of the knife holder and a leading edge of the knife holder. An insert is supported by the knife holder and has leading and trailing ends that each extends along a longitudinal extent of the knife holder, and a longitudinal end between the leading and trailing ends. A knife is at least partly supported by the insert and has a cutting edge that projects beyond the leading end of the insert. The knife is clamped to the knife holder and the insert is secured to the knife holder by at least a first slot defined in the trailing end and/or longitudinal end of the insert, and at least a first locking post that engages the first slot and secures the insert to the knife holder.
PERFORATOR LUBRICATION SYSTEM
Disclosed are apparatus, systems and methods of lubricating a knife which provides intermittently spaced cuts to a moving web, also referred to as perforations. In this manner, the apparatus, systems and methods are useful in both perforating a web and lubricating the knife used to form the perforations. the apparatus, systems and methods disclosed herein improve knife life, perforation quality and web handling.
