Pharmaceutical package for ophthalmic formulations

A liquid formulation of an ophthalmic drug in a pharmaceutical package, for example a syringe, cartridge, or vial, made in part or in whole of a thermoplastic polymer, coated on the interior with a tie coating or layer, a barrier coating or layer, a pH protective coating or layer, and optionally a lubricity coating or layer.

ANTIMICROBIAL COATING CONTAINING ERYTHRITOL

Embodiments include formulations and methods for topical administration of sugar alcohol to treat a skin condition such as acne. A formulation can include a moisturizer, an emollient, a sugar alcohol and zinc. The sugar alcohol can be erythritol. The erythritol can be administered with zinc chloride. The erythritol and zinc chloride can be formulated at a molar ratio of about 3:1. The methods can also include administration of a therapeutic amount of a second agent such as benzoyl peroxide or a retinoid. Embodiments also include antimicrobial coatings that contain erythritol and zinc to reduce, negate, and prevent the proliferation and propagation of accumulating biofilm. The formulation can be used to clean and/or provide an antimicrobial coating on a medical device such as a catheter.

Antimicrobial-containing silicone lubricious coatings

Novel, lubricious antimicrobial coatings for medical devices are disclosed. The coatings provide improved lubricity and durability and are readily applied in coating processes at low temperatures that do not deform the device and preserves the antimicrobial effectiveness of the antimicrobial agent. The present invention is also directed to a novel platinum catalyst for use in such coatings. The catalyst provides for rapid curing, while inhibiting cross-linking at ambient temperatures, thereby improving the production pot life of the coatings.

Hydrophilic coatings and methods of forming the same

Hydrophilic coatings including a base coat layer and a top coat layer wherein at least one of the base coat and top coat compositions that form the hydrophilic coatings comprises a diacrylate compound have a number average molecular weight less than 1000.

Device having a switchable wet-dry lubricating coating

A lubricating coating including at least one polymer A, a cross-linker and at least one lubricating agent, and wherein a portion of the at least two reactive groups of the cross-linker are covalently linked to the polymer A to form a three-dimensional network in which the lubricant is incorporated, and wherein at the same time another portion of the reactive groups of the cross-linker are covalently linked to the surface of the device or to the optional adhesion layer on the surface of the device.

LUBRICIOUS STRUCTURES, METHODS OF MAKING THEM, AND METHODS OF USE

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide for lubricious structures (also referred to simply as “structure”), methods of making lubricious structures, methods of using lubricious structures, and the like.

WETTING AGENT FORMULATION
20230105383 · 2023-04-06 ·

A first alternative to a composition for preventing or retarding degradation of a functional coating on a medical device comprising an antioxidant selected from gallic acid or a derivative thereof. A second alternative to a composition for preventing or retarding degradation of a functional coating on a medical device includes carboxymethyl cellulose or a derivative or salt thereof. The use of the compositions for preventing or retarding degradation of a functional coating on a medical device from reactive species generated during exposure of radiation, and a wetting agent comprising the compositions, are also provided. The wetting agent prevents or retards the hydrolytic degradation of the coating during the intended shelf-life of the wetted coated product.

Bioactive coatings

Antimicrobial and antithrombogenic polymer or polymeric blend, compounds, coatings, and materials containing the same, as well as articles made with, or coated with the same, and methods of making the same exhibiting improved antimicrobial properties and reduced platelet adhesion. Embodiments include polymers with antimicrobial and antithrombogenic groups bound to a single polymer backbone, an antimicrobial polymer blended with an antithrombogenic polymer, and medical devices coated with the antimicrobial and antithrombogenic polymer or polymeric blend.

CATHETERS HAVING LOW VISCOSITY LUBRICANT
20230133471 · 2023-05-04 ·

A closed-system urinary catheter with a low viscosity gel lubrication is disclosed. The system has an uncoated catheter, but a hydrophilic coated catheter could be used. The low viscosity lubricating gel within the sachet uniformly coats the catheter when the sachet is ruptured just prior to use. A low viscosity lubrication gel could alternatively be place in the area inside the sheath and external to the catheter. Therefore, the variability that occurs with a hydrophilic catheter or the areas of a non-lubricated catheter with the higher viscosity gel catheters is avoided.

Urinary Catheters with Improved Shape Recovery and Ease of Use

Catheters including thermoplastic polyurethane polymer tubing with improved shape recovery after storage in a substantially coiled configuration are provided.
