METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ADJUSTING AND MAINTAINING A POSITION OF A CUTTING SURFACE OF A PERFORATING APPARATUS

The present disclosure relates to adjusting and maintaining a position of a cutting surface used to create lines of weakness for rolled products. A perforating apparatus includes a housing rotatably supported by a frame, wherein the housing is adapted to rotate about a first axis. A support member including a first cutting surface is rotatably supported by the housing, wherein the support member is adapted to rotate about a second axis offset from the first axis. A roll including a second cutting surface is positioned adjacent the support member, wherein the roll is adapted to rotate about a third axis. The second cutting surface is adapted to contact the first cutting surface as the roll rotates about the third axis. The perforating apparatus is configured such that the functions of adjusting the position of the first cutting surface and holding the first cutting surface in a fixed position are separate.

A hot knife apparatus for cutting tubular webbing. The hot knife includes an anvil having a surface for cutting a tubular webbing, and a hot knife positioned above the anvil adapted to cut the tubular webbing on the surface of the anvil. The anvil has a first slope on an input side of the apparatus and a second slope on an output side of the apparatus. A pair of spreaders is positioned adjacent to the first slope and the second slope for applying tension to the tubular webbing.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CUTTING A METALLIC FILM
20210060808 · 2021-03-04 ·

A method for cutting a metallic film is disclosed. The method includes: feeding the metallic film between a scoring blade and an anvil at a first speed; feeding a first protective film between the metallic film and the scoring blade; feeding a second protective film between the metallic film and the anvil; moving the scoring blade toward the anvil for applying a pressure onto the first protective film, the metallic film, and the second protective film disposed between the scoring blade and the anvil for making a score along a width of the protective film; and pulling the metallic film having passed between the scoring blade and the anvil at a second speed. The second speed being greater than the first speed. A difference between the first and second speeds causes the metallic film to cut at the score. A system for cutting a metallic film is also disclosed.
