SYSTEM FOR SHAPING AND IMPLANTING BIOLOGIC INTRAOCULAR STENT FOR INCREASED AQUEOUS OUTFLOW AND LOWERING OF INTRAOCULAR PRESSURE
A system for deploying an implant cut from a biological tissue into an eye of a patient including a delivery device and a nose cone assembly, a tubular shaft projecting from the distal end region of the nose cone and comprising a lumen. Related devices, systems, and methods are provided.
Lamellar Corneal Autologous Or Homologous Graft In Refractive Surgery
A method of lamellar corneal graft implantation is disclosed herein. In one or more embodiments, the method includes the steps of: (i) modifying a genetic component of a lamellar cornea or other tissue of an animal so that the lamellar cornea or other tissue of the animal can be used for human transplantation; (ii) decellularizing the lamellar cornea or other tissue ex vivo using chemical means; (iii) modifying a shape of the lamellar cornea or other tissue before or after transplantation; and (iv) applying a photosensitizer and ultraviolet radiation to the lamellar cornea or other tissue so as to crosslink collagen and intercellular proteins of the lamellar cornea or other tissue, kill the cells exposed to the photosensitizer, and eliminate an immune response by a host to the implanted lamellar cornea or the tissue.
Ablatable Corneal Inlay For Correction Of Refractive Errors And/Or Presbyopia
An ablatable corneal inlay for correction of refractive errors and/or presbyopia, and a method of correcting refractive errors and presbyopia in an eye of a patient using an ablatable corneal inlay is disclosed herein.
MATERIAL AND BIOLOGICAL RESPONSE OF FEMTOSECOND PHOTO-MODIFICATION IN HYDROGEL AND CORNEA
Systems and methods for optimizing laser damage threshold and induced phase change range in a method of writing phase change structures in a hydrogel material with a femtosecond laser writing system focusing a laser beam into the hydrogel material. laser pulse width and a laser effective NA are selected for a given focused laser average power range to increase the laser damage threshold relative to use of laser pulse widths shorter than the selected laser pulse width and/or use of laser effective NAs greater than the selected laser effective NA. In a particular embodiment, the focused laser average power is from 1 to 5000 mW, the selected laser pulse width is greater than about 165 fs, and the selected laser effective NA is less than 0.50. Applications of the techniques described include laser induced refractive index change (LIRIC) customization of contact lenses, intra-ocular lenses, and other ophthalmic materials.
OPHTHALMOLOGICAL COMPOSITION
An ophthalmological composition includes at least one viscoelastic polymer, wherein the composition comprises at least one thermoresponsive compound that in a predefined wavelength range undergoes a temperature-dependent discontinuous change in at least one physical property from a group color and transmittance. The disclosure further relates to such an ophthalmological composition wherein a temperature-dependent change in the at least one physical property is reversible and/or wherein the temperature-dependent change in the at least one physical property occurs within not more than 10 seconds after a predefined temperature threshold value has been exceeded.
Transplantation medium
The present invention, in which RPE cells are suspended in a medium pharmaceutically acceptable as an ocular irrigating/washing solution and containing a poloxamer, achieves improvement of the post-thawing survival rate of cryopreserved RPE cells, improvement of the photoreceptor cell protection effect by RPE cell transplanted immediately after thawing, and prevention of loss of RPE cells in various steps from thawing to transplantation.
Ophthalmic lens and method for manufacturing the same
The invention is to provide an ophthalmic lens comprising a lens body, a polydopamine layer formed on the surface of the lens body and an antimicrobial layer bonded to the polydopamine layer, and manufacturing method thereof, wherein the antimicrobial layer is formed from a copolymer of carboxyl-containing polymer and zwitterionic polymer and a crosslinking agent, and the zwitterionic polymer can be selected from one of the group consisting of phosphorylcholine polymer, sulfobetaine polymer, carboxybetaine polymer and mixed-charge polymer or a combination thereof.
Ophthalmic lens and method for manufacturing the same
The invention is to provide an ophthalmic lens comprising a lens body and an antimicrobial hydrophilic layer thereon and a manufacturing method thereof, wherein the antimicrobial hydrophilic layer comprises a polydopamine layer and a zwitterionic polymer non-covalently bonded on the polydopamine layer, and the zwitterionic polymer can be selected from one of the group consisting of phosphorylcholine polymer, sulfobetaine polymer, carboxybetaine polymer, mixed-charge polymer and a combination thereof.
CORNEAL TISSUE
The invention provides an isolated dehydrated corneal tissue, comprising a full thickness corneal stroma, and substantially all, or all, of the Bowman's membrane, wherein the stroma contains cellular material. Also provided is a method to product the tissue and uses of the tissue.
Cultivated Autologous Limbal Epithelial Cell (CALEC) Transplantation
Provided herein are methods for generating cultivated autologous limbal epithelial cell grafts for the treatment of various disorders caused by limbal stem cell deficiency. This invention relates to methods and compositions for treating ophthalmic disorders, diseases and injuries. In particular, the field of the invention is directed to methods, kits and compositions for treating disorders, diseases, defects and injuries of the cornea and ocular surface. The present disclosure relates to preparations of cultured mammalian limbal stem cells, derived from corneal limbus tissue.
