METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR RECOVERING TERPENE COMPOSITIONS FROM WOOD DRYING EXHAUST
Methods and systems for recovering terpenes and controlling the composition of terpenes collected from wood drying processes are provided. In particular, a sorbent having adsorbed materials, including terpenes, from a wood drying process can be desorbed in a desorber, resulting in a gaseous stream containing terpenes, which can be condensed and collected from the gaseous stream. The conditions of desorption can be controlled to ensure a desirable amount of alpha-pinene and beta-pinene relative to other terpenes, such as dipentene and camphene, in the collected terpenes.
High temperature thermal modification process of wood in a vacuum autoclave
A process for the thermal-chemical modification treatment of wood is described, in which such a modification is obtained through multiple chemical reactions of the substances comprising the wood structure generated by exposing the wood to temperatures at which the pyrolysis phenomenon begins, i.e., in the range of 180 C.-240 C., in a vacuum autoclave-cell while always maintaining the internal pressure lower than the atmospheric pressure, in a range of values of 70-350 mBar of absolute pressure, consisting in the steps of pre-heating, actual heat treatment, and cooling of a wood mass.
Thermo treatment process for wood
Thermo treatment process for wood comprising the following steps: a. Placing the wood batch to be treated in a treatment chamber; b. Exchanging the atmosphere inside the treatment chamber by evacuating the air, replacing the evacuated air by an inert gas atmosphere in gas form, at 8 to 12 bar pressure; c. Heating the inert gas atmosphere up to 165 to 175 C., d. increasing the pressure in the inert gas atmosphere to 14-16 bar; e. maintaining the temperature in step c. and the pressure in step d. for from 90 to 150 minutes; f. cooling the inert gas atmosphere to a temperature of 20 to 35 C. g. retrieving the treated wood batch.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR CONTROLLING EMISSIONS FROM WOOD DRYING PROCESSES
Methods and systems for obtaining exhaust streams from wood drying processes and controlling emissions in exhaust streams from wood drying processes are provided. Methods and systems can include pre-treatment steps, such as removing particulate matter and/or heating a process exhaust stream from a wood dryer, in order to obtain an exhaust stream that is suitable for downstream recovery of terpenes from said exhaust stream. Exhaust streams can be contacted with a sorbent to remove volatile organic compounds, and other emissions, generating a purified air stream that is able to be released into the environment without further purification or oxidation.
Flame-treated drumstick
A wooden drumstick that is treated by direct heating by exposure to a flame to improve hardness characteristics by altering the state of fibers in an outer layer of the drum stick relative to inner fibers below the outer layer. A method of manufacturing a treated drumstick includes selecting a wooden starting material, forming a drumstick profile from the wooden starting material, and exposing the drumstick profile directly to a flame.

Flame-retardant and corrosion-resistant fiber bamboo substrate and preparation method thereof
The invention claims a flame-retardant and corrosion-resistant fiber bamboo substrate and a preparation method thereof. The preparation method comprises the following steps of: 1) cutting raw bamboo into bamboo filaments; 2) flame-retardant treatment: soaking the bamboo filaments prepared in Step 1) in aqueous solution of a flame retardant; 3) drying: drying the flame-retardant treated bamboo filaments at 55 C. to 65 C. until the absolute water content is not more than 12%; 4) carbonized pyrolysis: feeding the dried bamboo filaments into a carbonized pyrolysis kiln, to be high-temperature treated according to a pyrolysis gradient; and, 5) sequentially gumming, post-gumming drying, pressing, curing, maintaining and splitting to obtain a bamboo substrate. The bamboo substrate has high stability, no cracks on the product surface, enhanced corrosion resistance and excellent flame retardance, and may be used in various climate conditions and environments.
