NASAL IRRIGATION DIAGNOSTIC ASSEMBLY
A nasal irrigation diagnostic assembly comprising an irrigation device including a fluid collection portion structured to retain a biological sample, in the form of waste solution from the nasal cavity resulting from irrigation. A detection member disposed on said irrigation device is exposed to the biological sample and is structured to determine the existence of at least one analyte within the biological sample of the waste solution. The detection member comprises a plurality of detection zones individually structured to analyze the biological sample upon engagement therewith, wherein said plurality of zones include at least a reaction zone and a detection zone, which respectively include reagents cooperatively and collectively formulated to detect the existence of the at least one analyte within biological sample of the waste solution. A control zone may also be included to indicate the intended operability of at least the detection member.

FLUID DISPENSING APPARATUS FOR IRRIGATING A BODY CAVITY
A fluid dispensing apparatus for irrigating a body cavity includes a fluid container assembly, a cap member, and a tip member. The fluid container assembly defines a longitudinal axis and includes a fluid container and an inlet assembly fixedly secured to the fluid container. The cap member is selectively rotatably attached to the inlet assembly. The tip member is selectively attachable to the cap member in response to rotation of the tip member about the longitudinal axis of the fluid container assembly.
CASSETTE FOR A CONSOLE OF AN OPHTHALMOSURGICAL SYSTEM, AND OPHTHALMOSURGICAL SYSTEM
A cassette for a console of an ophthalmosurgical system for treating an eye is configured for insertion into a cassette receiving region of the console and has a fluid pump configured to deliver a treatment fluid, a tube for attachment to a handpiece, and a connection unit secured against detachment, of a cassette-side end of the tube to a cassette housing of the cassette. The connection unit includes an attachment stub arranged on the cassette housing and has a through opening for the treatment fluid, and a plug-in connector arranged on the cassette-side end of the tube and likewise has a through opening for the treatment fluid, with the plug-in connector, when it is connected to the attachment stub, being held in a fluid-tight manner with respect to the attachment stub and so as to be able to rotate about a longitudinal axis of the through opening.
METHOD FOR OPERATING A FLUID PUMP, AND OPHTHALMOSURGICAL SYSTEM WITH SAME
A method for operating a fluid pump of an ophthalmosurgical system for conveying a treatment fluid is provided. The fluid pump has a pump chamber and a drive chamber separated from the latter with an elastic partition element and which is acted upon by a drive fluid. A position of the partition element is detected. The method includes subjecting the drive fluid to a first drive pressure, detecting a treatment fluid pressure present in the first position of the partition element, subjecting the drive fluid to a further drive pressure, at which the partition element adopts a further position, detecting the at least one further position of the partition element, and a further treatment fluid pressure present in this further position, and taking into account the treatment fluid pressures and drive pressures present in the respective positions account in the operation of the fluid pump.
TRANS-ANAL INFLOW CATHETER FOR INTERMITTENTLY TRIGGERING A REFLEX-COORDINATED DEFECATION
A device for intermittently triggering a coordinated defecation reflex in the rectum or colon of a patient, said device comprising a catheter with an inflexible catheter shaft and a preformed inflatable balloon, the inflatable balloon comprising at least an intrarectal balloon segment having, in an inflated, but unpressurized state of the balloon, a generally spherical or discoid shape and a maximal first radius, and being adapted to be placed intrarectally; wherein the inflatable balloon is fixed onto the catheter shaft only at fixation points located at the ends of the inflatable balloon, wherein both ends of the inflatable balloon taper to a shaft dimension of the catheter shaft supporting the inflatable balloon, with the distal end of the balloon having a tapered second radius; wherein, in an inflated, but unpressurized state of the balloon, the difference between the first radius of the intrarectal balloon segment and the second radius of the distal tapered balloon end is equal to a first difference, and further wherein the first difference is greater than a distance between a distal front side of the catheter and a distal fixation point, where the tapered distal end of the balloon is in contact with the catheter shaft and is fixed thereto; wherein the distal front side of the catheter is at a distalmost extension of the catheter shaft or of a distal tip piece of the catheter shaft; and wherein the inflatable balloon is configured such that when the inflatable balloon is in a pressurized state exceeding 30 mbar, at least a portion of the distal intrarectal balloon segment engages and expands a side wall of the rectum or colon of the patient, whereby to trigger a coordinated defecation reflex in the rectum or colon of the patient.
