Techniques for casting from additively fabricated molds and related systems and methods
According to some aspects, a method is provided of casting an object from a mold, the method comprising obtaining a mold comprising a hollow shell of rigid material, the material comprising a thermoset polymer having a plurality of pores formed therein, providing a metal and/or ceramic slurry into an interior of the mold, exposing at least part of the mold to a low pressure environment so that a net flow of gas is produced from the interior of the mold into the low pressure environment. According to some aspects, a method of forming a porous mold is provided. According to some aspects, a photocurable liquid composition is provided, comprising a liquid photopolymer resin, particles of a solid material, in an amount between 30% and 60% by volume of the composition, and a water-soluble liquid.
STRETCHING DEVICES AND METHODS TO ALIGN EXTRACELLULAR MATRIX FIBERS
Embodiments of the present disclosure pertain to a clamp assembly that includes: a first base and a second base; and a mold operational to be clamped between the first base and the second base. The clamp assembly is operational to stretch and compress the clamped mold without movement of the first base and the second base. For instance, each of the first base and the second base may include a plurality of apertures with pegs that are associated with the mold, where the pegs are operational for stretching and compressing the mold through adjustment. Further embodiments pertain to methods of moving a mold by utilizing the clamp assemblies of the present disclosure.

Provided is a mold core structure, which is arranged on a mold. The mold core structure includes a mold core body, which is a solid body made of three-dimensional printing, wherein one side of the mold core body is provided with a molding part, which is combined with an internal structure of the mold to form a cavity, there is a conformal air duct inside the mold core body, the conformal air duct has at least one main air duct and a plurality of secondary air ducts, the main air duct has a first end and a second end, the first end is located on one side of the mold core body, and connected to an external pneumatic control device, the pneumatic control device controls air to enter or exit the cavity through the conformal air duct, the second end thereof is located inside the mold core body, a path of the main air duct is freely wound around the molding part between the first end and the second end, one end of each of the secondary air ducts is communicated with the main air duct, and another end thereof is communicated with the molding part and disposed towards an ejection direction of a finished product. Accordingly, the finished product is released from the mold by controlling the air through the pneumatic control device.

The invention described herein provides a method and material for creating tools surfaces from a granulated material comprised of a particulate and binding material in compositions and ratios described below. The granulated material may be formed using a number of methods and provides for the efficient repair of worn or damaged areas. Additionally, the granulated material may be used by placing it on the surface of a tooling encasement, or may be used by itself without any further structural support. The granulated material may also be used for both forming and trimming/machining of the part to desired tolerances.

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including medium-encoded computer program products, for designing and manufacturing conformal cooling molds with lattice structures include, in one aspect, a method including: obtaining temperature and pressure data for a 3D model of a conformal cooling mold from computer simulation of injection molding; replacing a volume of the 3D model with a lattice structure to reduce the mass of the mold; adjusting a number of lattice unit cells for the lattice structure in accordance with the temperature data to increase heat conduction from hotter areas of the mold; adjusting thickness(es) of beams forming the lattice structure in accordance with the pressure data to prevent structural failure of the mold; and providing an updated version of the 3D model of the conformal cooling mold that incorporates the lattice structure after adjustment of the number of lattice unit cells and the thickness(es) of beams forming the lattice structure.
