A mold release agent composition that contains: (1) a fluorine-containing polymer which has repeating units derived from (a) a fluorine-containing monomer having a perfluoroalkyl group, (b) a non-fluorine monomer having a hydrocarbon group and (c) a non-fluorine monomer having a phosphoric acid group, and wherein the amount of the phosphoric acid group-containing non-fluorine monomer (c) is 8% by weight or less relative to the fluorine-containing polymer; and (2) at least one liquid medium which is selected from among water and organic solvents.

The patterning tools can be cylindrical and/or closed in shape.
