In some embodiments, pirfenidone or pyridone analog compound formulations and delivery options described herein allow for efficacious local delivery of pirfenidone or pyridone analog compound. Compositions include all formulations, kits, and device combinations described herein. Methods include inhalation procedures, indications and manufacturing processes for production and use of the compositions described.
Nicotine salt with meta-salicylic acid
The present disclosure relates generally to the field of nicotine delivery. The disclosure teaches a nicotine meta-salicylate. More specifically, the disclosure teaches a condensation nicotine aerosol where nicotine meta-salicylate is vaporized. This disclosure relates to aerosol nicotine delivery devices. The delivery devices can be activated by actuation mechanisms to vaporize thin films comprising a nicotine meta-salicylate. More particularly, this disclosure relates to thin films of nicotine salt with meta salicylic acid for the treatment of nicotine craving and for effecting smoking cessation.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR DELIVERING A SUBSTANCE TO A BODY CAVITY
Methods and devices are provided for delivering one or more substances within at least one body cavity. Such devices include at least one nosepiece having at least one capsule including a volume V.sub.sub of the substances; at least one base in communication with the nosepiece, the base having at least one chamber configured to confine pressurized fluid at volume V.sub.PF and pressure P.sub.PF, and at least one hollow puncturing member having at least one sharp end and a second end in fluid communication with the base. The first and second ends are fluidly interconnected by at least one hollow tube. A fluid inlet port of the capsule is configured in terms of size and shape to interface in a sealable manner with at least one end of the at least one puncturing member.
NASAL DELIVERY
A nasal delivery device for and a method of delivering a substance to a nasal cavity of a subject, the delivery device comprising: a delivery unit for delivering a flow entraining a substance to one nostril of a subject, the delivery unit including a nosepiece for fitting to a nostril of the subject; and a flow resistor unit for fitting to the other nostril of the subject, the flow resistor unit including a progressive resistor for progressively providing an increasing flow resistance to the delivered flow.
Photodefined aperture plate and method for producing the same
In one embodiment, a method for manufacturing an aperture plate includes depositing a releasable seed layer above a substrate, applying a first patterned photolithography mask above the releasable seed layer, the first patterned photolithography mask having a negative pattern to a desired aperture pattern, electroplating a first material above the exposed portions of the releasable seed layer and defined by the first mask, applying a second photolithography mask above the first material, the second photolithography mask having a negative pattern to a first cavity, electroplating a second material above the exposed portions of the first material and defined by the second mask, removing both masks, and etching the releasable seed layer to release the first material and the second material. The first and second material form an aperture plate for use in aerosolizing a liquid. Other aperture plates and methods of producing aperture plates are described according to other embodiments.
Delivery device with cantilever structure and associated method of use
A delivery device for use in administering a dry powder to a biological subject's airway is provided. The device comprises (a) a housing having an inlet in fluid communication with an outlet for delivering a flow of gas to the subject's airway; and (b) one or more cantilever structures located within the housing. Vibration of the one or more cantilever structures facilitates entry of the dry powder into the flow of gas, such that the dry powder can be delivered by the flow of gas through the outlet to the subject's airway. Also provided is a container for releasably storing a particulate composition, the container comprising a shell sealed by a seal in which the particulate composition is stored, wherein a puncturing device for rupturing the seal to release the particulate composition is housed within the shell. Further provided are associated methods for administering dry powder using the delivery device and/or container.
DROPLET DELIVERY DEVICE FOR DELIVERY OF FLUIDS TO THE PULMONARY SYSTEM AND METHODS OF USE
A droplet delivery device and related methods for delivering precise and repeatable dosages to a subject for pulmonary use is disclosed. The droplet delivery device includes a housing, a reservoir, and ejector mechanism, and at least one differential pressure sensor. The droplet delivery device is automatically breath actuated by the user when the differential pressure sensor senses a predetermined pressure change within housing. The droplet delivery device is then actuated to generate a stream of droplets having an average ejected droplet diameter within the respirable size range, e.g, less than about 5 μm, so as to target the pulmonary system of the user.
Respiratory system for inducing therapeutic hypothermia
The present invention provides a method and apparatus for controlling a patient's body temperature and in particular for inducing therapeutic hypothermia. Various embodiments of the system are described. The system includes: a source of breathing gas, which may be in the form of a compressed breathing gas mixture; a heat exchanger or other heating and/or cooling device; and a breathing interface, such as a breathing mask or tracheal tube. Optionally, the system may include additional features, such as a mechanical respirator, a nebulizer for introducing medication into the breathing gas, a body temperature probe and a feedback controller. The system can use air or a specialized breathing gas mixture, such as He/O.sub.2 or SF/O.sub.2 to increase the heat transfer rate.
