METHODS FOR GENERATING AND DELIVERING DROPLETS TO THE PULMONARY SYSTEM USING A DROPLET DELIVERY DEVICE
A droplet delivery device and related methods for delivering precise and repeatable dosages to a subject for pulmonary use is disclosed. The droplet delivery device includes a housing, a reservoir, and ejector mechanism, and at least one differential pressure sensor. The droplet delivery device is automatically breath actuated by the user when the differential pressure sensor senses a predetermined pressure change within housing. The droplet delivery device is then actuated to generate a stream of droplets having an average ejected droplet diameter within the respirable size range, e.g, less than about 5 μm, so as to target the pulmonary system of the user.
Gas humidification arrangement
A humidification arrangement can be configured to have multiple compartments with each compartment having at least one moisture source and at least one heater. The compartments can be thermally isolated and can be controlled such that the moisture output of both the first and second compartments is set to a function of the same set of input signals.
RESPIRATORY SYSTEM FOR INDUCING THERAPEUTIC HYPOTHERMIA
The present invention provides a method and apparatus for controlling a patient's body temperature and in particular for inducing therapeutic hypothermia. Various embodiments of the system are described. The system includes: a source of breathing gas, which may be in the form of a compressed breathing gas mixture; a heat exchanger or other heating and/or cooling device; and a breathing interface, such as a breathing mask or tracheal tube. Optionally, the system may include additional features, such as a mechanical respirator, a nebulizer for introducing medication into the breathing gas, a body temperature probe and a feedback controller. The system can use air or a specialized breathing gas mixture, such as He/O.sub.2 or SF/O.sub.2 to increase the heat transfer rate. In addition, the system may include an ice particle generator for introducing fine ice particles into the flow of breathing gas to further increase the heat transfer rate.
AEROSOL PIRFENIDONE AND PYRIDONE ANALOG COMPOUNDS AND USES THEREOF
Disclosed herein are formulations of pirfenidone or pyridone analog compounds for aerosolization and use of such formulations for aerosol administration of pirfenidone or pyridone analog compounds for the prevention or treatment of various fibrotic and inflammatory diseases, including disease associated with the lung, heart, kidney, liver, eye and central nervous system. In some embodiments, pirfenidone or pyridone analog compound formulations and delivery options described herein allow for efficacious local delivery of pirfenidone or pyridone analog compound. Compositions include all formulations, kits, and device combinations described herein. Methods include inhalation procedures, indications and manufacturing processes for production and use of the compositions described.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR AEROSOLIZED DELIVERING OF SUBSTANCE TO A NATURAL ORIFICE OF THE BODY
A device for delivering a predetermined volume a substance within a body cavity. The device includes: at least one predefined volume sized and shaped to contain a predetermined volume the substance; a delivery end in fluid communication with a container; and at least one valve mechanically connected to the container and configurable between an active configuration in which the valve enables delivery of a volume of the substance and an inactive configuration, in which the valve prevents delivery.
AEROSOL UNIT
An aerosol unit for an aerosol dispenser, which aerosol unit comprises an axially oriented body, having a distal inlet part and a proximal outlet part; a carrier member arranged in the body, transversally to the axis between the inlet part and the outlet part; and wherein the carrier member comprises through-holes which place the inlet part in fluid communication with the outlet part, and wherein the carrier member is insert-moulded into the body such that a contact surface between the carrier and the body forms an air-tight seal.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR DELIVERING A SUBSTANCE TO A BODY CAVITY UTILIZING BLOW-FILL-SEAL TECHNOLOGY
A device is provided for delivering one or more substances within at least one body cavity. The device includes at least one pierceable vial comprising V.sub.sub [ml or mg] of the substances; the vial having at least one fluid discharging outlet port, configured for placement in proximity to the body cavity. The pierceable vial is configured to interface in a sealable manner with at least one pressurized fluid at volume V.sub.PF [ml] and pressure P.sub.PF [barg]. The device, upon actuation, permits the pressurized fluid to enter into the pierceable vial via the at least one fluid inlet port, entrains the substances, and delivers the substances through the fluid discharging outlet port to within the body cavity in the form of at least one selected from a group consisting of drops, droplets, stream, aerosol and any combination thereof.
DELIVERY OF LOW SURFACE TENSION COMPOSITIONS TO THE PULMONARY SYSTEM VIA ELECTRONIC BREATH ACTUATED DROPLET DELIVERY DEVICE
A droplet delivery device and related methods for delivering a low surface tension composition as a stream of droplets to a subject for pulmonary use is disclosed. The droplet delivery device includes a housing, a reservoir, an ejector mechanism, and at least one differential pressure sensor. The droplet delivery device is automatically breath actuated by the user when the differential pressure sensor senses a predetermined pressure change within housing. The ejector mechanism includes a piezoelectric actuator and an aperture plate, the aperture plate having a plurality of openings formed through its thickness, and one or more surfaces configured to provide a desired surface contact angle, and the piezoelectric actuator operable to oscillate the aperture plate at a frequency to thereby generate the ejected stream of droplets.
INTRANASAL TREATMENT DEVICE
The present invention relates to a closed system intranasal treatment device that is preferably in round, square, rectangular, triangular prism, quadrilateral, pentagon etc. form and that ensures the person who will use it gets maximum efficiency from the drug by creating a closed structure by completely wrapping noses of pediatric, adult and geriatric patient groups and preventing the drug from passing out of the system and maximizes patient compliance, in which all liquid pharmaceutical compositions in the state of the art are applicable.
ELECTRONIC VAPORIZATION DEVICE
An electronic vaporization device includes: a microporous atomizing sheet; and a needle tube, one end of the needle tube being spaced apart from the microporous atomizing sheet, and an other end of the needle tube being for insertion into a liquid storage assembly, the needle tube being conveying liquid in the liquid storage assembly to the microporous atomizing sheet to form to-be-vaporized liquid, the to-be-vaporized being adsorbed between the microporous atomizing sheet and the needle tube through surface tension.
