METHOD AND SYSTEMS FOR APPLYING STRETCH FILMS/PLASTIC FILMS AT A CONTROLLED TEMPERATURE
A system for controlling the temperature of a film before and/or during application, the system including: a heat source for heating a film; and stretch rollers; wherein the heat source heats the film from an ambient temperature to a temperature from about 2° C. to about 40° C. above the ambient temperature, wherein the film is heated prior to or simultaneous to being stretched by the stretch rollers, and wherein the ambient temperature is below 15° C. The preheating system may be used to enhance binding and sealing properties of stretch films used for wrapping palletized products in a reduced temperature environment. Other embodiments of the preheating film system, and methods for its use, are described herein.
MULTI-STAGE PRESSING PROCESS FOR PRODUCING A MOLDED PART SUCH AS A BIPOLAR PLATE FROM A HIGHLY FILLED THERMOSETTING MATERIAL
A process for producing a molded part from a highly filled thermosetting starting material including: introducing the starting material into a prepressing tool; producing a preform from the starting material, the starting material being brought to a prepressing temperature by the prepressing tool and being compressed with a prepressing force to form the preform; removing the preform from the prepressing tool and introducing the preform into a finish pressing tool; and producing a finished part from the preform, the preform being brought to a finish pressing temperature by the finish pressing tool and being compressed with a finish pressing force to form the finished part. Here, the prepressing temperature is lower than the finish pressing temperature and the finish pressing temperature is at least as high as an onset temperature of a curing reaction of the starting material.
METHOD FOR CONTROL OF SEMI-CRYSTALLINE THERMOPLASTIC MELT FRONT IN OUT OF AUTOCLAVE PROCESSING
A system and method for thermoplastic composite processing including compressing and heating a thermoplastic composite panel having a plurality of terminal edges. The method further includes heating the thermoplastic composite panel to a melting temperature to create a melt front of the thermoplastic composite panel at a first location and heating the thermoplastic composite panel to the melting temperature in a pre-determined pattern from the first location toward the terminal edges of the thermoplastic composite panel. Extending the melt front toward the terminal edges in this way causes air constrained within the thermoplastic composite panel to escape the thermoplastic composite panel through unmelted portions of the thermoplastic composite panel located between the melt front and the terminal edges. Cooling of the panel may be similarly conducted, cooling a first region and then gradually continuing to cool the panel in a direction toward one or more of the terminal edges.
System for 3D printing
An additive manufacturing (AM) system includes a carriage that deposits material in a defined pattern and a building platform that receives material deposited from the carriage. The carriage includes a pre-heating assembly with a plurality of pre-heating chambers and a printing block with a plurality of slots for receiving a plurality of printing heads. The carriage is equipped with more pre-heating chambers than head slots.
Shaping device and production method for shaped object
In a shaping device, a sheet that distends due to being irradiated with electromagnetic waves is placed a conveyor belt. An irradiator irradiates the sheet placed on and conveyed by the conveyor belt with electromagnetic waves. At least one heater heats the conveyor belt.
Panel with paint ready surface
In a preferred embodiment, a composite panel with a smooth outer surface, ready for painting with or without addition of primer, may be created by constructing a panel layup assembly upon a mold, the panel layup assembly including a composite panel having a core and a resin formulation, and a release film between the mold and the composite panel, where a smooth release surface of the release film is in contact with the composite panel upon construction; initiating curing of the composite panel at a first temperature within a lowermost ten percent of a curing temperature range of the resin formulation; continuing curing of the composite panel at a second temperature above the lowermost ten percent of the curing temperature range; and completing curing of the composite panel at a third temperature below the second temperature.

METHOD OF SHAPING A CURED THERMOSETTING RESIN
The present invention relates to a method of shaping a cured thermosetting resin substrate, and more particularly to a method of shaping a cured thermosetting resin using electromagnetic radiation, said method comprises providing a cured thermosetting resin substrate; providing a confined temperature controlling environment; placing the cured thermosetting resin substrate in the confined temperature controlling environment; providing a source of electromagnetic radiation; irradiating the cured thermosetting resin substrate in the confined temperature controlling environment; and shaping the irradiated thermosetting resin substrate.

Three-dimensional (3D) printing
In a three-dimensional printing method example, a build material is applied. A first liquid functional material is applied on at least a portion of the build material. The first liquid functional material includes ferromagnetic nanoparticles that are selected from the group consisting of an iron oxide, a ferrite, a combination of the iron oxide and a ferromagnetic metal oxide, and combinations thereof. The build material is exposed to electromagnetic radiation having a frequency ranging from about 5 kHz to about 300 GHz to sinter the portion of the build material in contact with the first liquid functional material.
