SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MANUFACTURING REINFORCED WEATHERSTRIP
Methods for manufacturing fabric-reinforced weatherstrip include incorporating a fabric application step into a process for making coated substrates. In one embodiment, a strip of the fabric from a roll of material may be applied directly onto a coating after it has been applied in a coat die to a foam profile, while the coating is still in the molten state. Alternatively, a fabric application plate may be attached to an upstream side of coating die with a fabric feed channel cut into the plate. The fabric follows the channel to contact and mate with the foam profile. The fabric applicator plate may be configured so as to exert pressure on only the part of the product where the fabric is being applied. Ultrasonic welding techniques may also be employed.
Three-dimensional modeling and/or manufacturing apparatus, and related processes
A uniquely featured addition to previous three dimensional prototyping machinery without any traversing X and Y coordinate moving parts, thus saving time by focusing on only an incrementally regular Z stage and the rapidity of chemical deposition via electrically localized reaction nodes through a porous/channeled plane called the build/extrusion platen. Processes for making objects using such machine and platen are also disclosed as well as features and further indexing of extrusion location inventions. Other features including chemistry, curing material, and curing control as well as activation methods and machines are also disclosed in combination with the feature of a simultaneous two-dimensional layer-wise deposition machine and process for growing the object in the Z direction using the displaceable platen or object supporting stage in a rapid manner. Further due to the rapid growth and deposition manner, additional benefits to the object creation and curable material, e.g. a monomer can be realized.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR EXTRUSION OF THERMOPLASTIC HANDRAIL
A method of and apparatus for extruding an article of uniform cross-section, the article including a thermoplastic material and at least one cable for inhibiting stretch of the article. The cable is supplied to a respective tube and is conveyed between upstream and downstream ends. The thermoplastic material may be supplied to the downstream end of the tube. The thermoplastic material is brought together with the cable to embed the cable within the thermoplastic material, thereby forming a composite extrudate. The tube is configured to at least hinder movement of loose windings of the cable from the downstream end towards the upstream end, which may prevent or at least reduce incidence of birdcaging.
Multilayer barrier film, laminates and process thereof
The present disclosure relates to a multi-layer barrier film comprising: a first layer of an ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH) layer or a polyamide layer having a thickness in the range of 3 micron to 15 micron; a second layer of a polyamide layer having a thickness in the range of 3 micron to 15 micron in contact with the first layer; and a third layer of an ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH) layer having a thickness in the range of 3 micron to 15 micron. The present disclosure also relates to a multi-layered laminate comprising the multi-layer barrier film, and the process of making the same.
Fused filament fabricated part using multi-directional layering
Technologies for fused filament fabrication using multi-directional layering are disclosed herein. According to aspects of the disclosure, a component may be strengthened using a multi-directional layering manufacturing technique. In some implementations, one or more portions of the component are manufactured in different orientations. In still further implementations, one layer of a component is laid down in a first orientation and a second layer of the component is laid down in a second orientation.
FORMATION OF THREE DIMENTIONAL OBJECTS INCLUDING MAGNETIC MATERIAL
Implementations described herein are directed to forming objects including one or more layers of a polymeric material that include a magnetic material. The objects can be produced by forming one or more first layers that include a first polymeric material. The one or more first layers can be free of a magnetic material. Additionally, the object can be produced by forming one or more second layers that include a second polymeric material having a magnetic material. For example, the one or more second layers can include a polymeric material embedded with magnetic particles. The one or more first layers and the one or more second layers can be formed by extruding the first polymeric material and the second polymeric material onto a substrate according to a pattern. A magnetizing device can be used to magnetize the magnetic material included in the one or more second layers.
METHOD AND APPRATUS FOR MANUFACTURE OF 3D OBJECTS
The current three-dimensional object manufacturing technique relies on the deposition of a pseudoplastic material in gel aggregate state. The gel flows through a deposition nozzle because the applied agitation and pressure shears the bonds and induces a breakdown in the material elasticity. The elasticity recovers immediately after leaving the nozzle, and the gel solidifies to maintain its shape and strength.
Apparatus and method for extruding stripes onto an extruded product
An apparatus for extruding a jacket and/or insulative material onto an extruded product with one or more longitudinal stripes incorporated onto the surface of said extruded product comprising a body, a primary feed conduit for conveying a primary extrusion material, a striping die, a secondary feed conduit for conveying a secondary extrusion material, a striping die adapter, a striping feed conduit extending through the striping die adapter for conveying striping extrusion material. The striping die adapter may also include a thermocouple for maintaining the viscosity of the striping extrusion material and a thermocouple for monitoring the temperature of said striping die adapter. The striping die includes one or more striping extrusion outlets for conveying striping extrusion material onto the extruded product. The striping die may also include a wishbone-shaped trough for delivering equal amounts of striping extrusion material to said extrusion outlets for extrusion onto the product.
CO-EXTRUDED LAMINATE FILM AND METHOD FOR THE PRODUCTION OF A CO-EXTRUDED LAMINATE FILM
A co-extruded laminate film has a first polymer material and a second polymer material, wherein the first polymer material extends over the full area and wherein the second polymer material is arranged only in certain sections, to form at least a first functional section with the second polymer material and at least a second functional section without the second polymer material. The ratio of a maximum film thickness (d.sub.max) determined in the first functional section to a minimum film thickness (d.sub.min) determined in the second functional section is at least 1.4:1. A method for producing the co-extruded laminate film extrudes the two polymer materials together to form first and second functional sections.
