A biaxially-oriented film for thermoforming is disclosed including at least 75% by weight polyethylene and at least 95% by weight polyolefins, based on the total mass of the film. The polyethylene has an elongation at break of at least 7 in the stress-strain diagram, wherein the stress-strain diagram is measured at a temperature of 10° C. below the melting point of the polyethylene and the melting point is determined by differential scanning calorimetry using a heating rate of 10° C. per minute. A process for producing such films and to the use thereof are disclosed. A process for producing shaped bodies from such films and to the shaped bodies themselves are disclosed.
Mesh Network
A meshwork has a layer forming a mesh, the mesh layer being disposed between parallel tension ribbons which are opposite one another in pairs. The tension ribbons have a thermoplastic bonding layer on the side facing the mesh layer and are connected to one another and to the mesh layer via the bonding layer. The mesh layer takes the form of a plastic net having meshwork webs which are connected to one another in a materially bonded manner and which are stretched and form diamond-shaped meshes, the longitudinal diagonals of which extend transversely to the tension ribbons.
Apparatus and method to adjust the thickness profile in the production of blown films
Disclosed is an apparatus for the production of a blown tubular film (FT). The apparatus includes an independent device for the localized thickness adjustment at the strips adjacent to the folding edges resulting from the flattening of the tubular film (FT) by means of adjustment elements formed in angular sectors of limited extension symmetrically arranged 180° apart. The independent device for the localized thickness adjustment being a volumetric type device having a rotating ring that performs a rotating adjustment of the flow rate of a cooling air stream which takes into account the angular offset resulting from the operational parameters of the apparatus.
GAS BARRIER ALUMINUM DEPOSITION FILM AND PREPARATION METHOD THEREOF
In a gas-barrier aluminum deposition film according to one embodiment of the present invention, a seed coating layer containing functional groups of at least one type selected from among a hydroxyl group (—OH), an amine group (—NH), and a carboxylic acid group (—COOH) is formed on a thermoplastic plastic base film to form a seed molecular layer that enables uniform deposition of aluminum, such as AlOx or AlNx, through chemical reaction, on a surface of the coating layer, with aluminum atoms vaporized at the initial stage of aluminum deposition, thereby inducing uniform deposition of an aluminum layer to be subsequently deposited. Therefore, it is possible to provide a deposited film having superior oxygen and water vapor barrier properties compared to existing aluminum deposition films.
HIGH ELASTOMERIC MODULUS AND STRENGTH POLYMER CONSTRUCTS AND METHODS OF FORMING
A method of producing high modulus and strength polymer materials includes compressive rolling a semicrystalline polymer material in at least two different axial directions of the material; and axially orienting at least a portion of the compressive rolled material to a draw ratio less than the ultimate elongation or the elongation % at break of the material.
GEOGRID MADE FROM A COEXTRUDED MULTILAYERED POLYMER
An integral geogrid includes a plurality of interconnected, oriented strands having an array of openings therein that is produced from a coextruded multilayer polymer sheet starting material. By virtue of the construction, the coextruded multilayer sheet components provide a crystalline synergistic effect during extrusion and orientation of the integral geogrid, resulting in enhanced material properties that provide performance benefits to use of the integral geogrid in soil geosynthetic reinforcement.
Composite porous membrane and preparation method therefor and use thereof
A composite porous membrane contains at least one porous base layer and at least one uniaxially stretched coating layer located on at least one side surface of the porous base layer. For example, the composite porous membrane comprises at least one porous base layer and at least one nanofiber-like non-polyolefin polymer porous layer oriented along the transverse stretching direction of the composite porous membrane and located on one or two side surfaces of the porous base layer, or the composite porous membrane comprises a biaxially stretched polypropylene porous base layer and a uniaxially stretched coating layer located on at least one side surface of the porous base layer. The composite porous membrane is coated with a coating solution prior to transversely stretching. The nanofiber-like non-polyolefin polymer porous layer may reduce cracking of the composite porous membrane in the machine direction.
LIGHTWEIGHT POLYETHYLENE FILM FOR ASEPTIC PACKAGING APPLICATIONS AND THE PRODUCT RESULTING THEREFROM AND THE PROCESS OF MAKING THE SAME
A multilayer foam film comprising high density polyethylene for direct and non-direct food contact and aseptic packaging application is disclosed. In an embodiment, the film has a bulk density of less than 0.962 gr/cm.sup.3 wherein more than 50% of the cells in the foam layer are closed cells. In an embodiment, the foam films are thick (generally more than 8 mils thick) and have a bending stiffness value of more than 18, in Taber stiffness unit configuration according to TAPPI/ANSI T 489 om-15, and the ratio of the mass per unit area (the mass of a unit area of the film in gram per meter-squared (gr/m.sup.2)) over the stiffness value in Taber unit configuration is equal to or less than 13. In an embodiment, the film has a very smooth surface with a smoothness value of less than 25 in Sheffiled smoothness unit configuration according to TAPPI T 538. The described foam film can have a water vapor transmission rate value of less than 1 gr/m.sup.2/24 hr, according to ASTM E398-13. The described foam film can have an oxygen transmission rate value of less than 10 cc/m.sup.2/24 hr, according to ASTM D3985.
