Hydroformed composite material and method for making same
A hydroformed composite material includes an expanded spun bonded nonwoven layer having a loft of at least about 1.3 times greater than an original loft of an original unexpanded spun bonded nonwoven web from which the expanded spun bonded nonwoven layer was created, and an air permeability of at least about 1.2 times greater than an original air permeability of the original unexpanded spun bonded nonwoven web. The hydroformed composite material includes a formed film layer that includes a plurality of extended cells containing continuous fibers and/or fibrils of the expanded spun bonded nonwoven layer.
System and method for reducing draw resonance in plants for the production of plastic film
A system and method for reducing draw resonance of plastic material in the molten state, so-called melt, leaving an extrusion group of a plant for the production of plastic film, includes at least one thermostatically-controlled cylinder, having an embracement angle, of the melt on the cylinder, adjustable on the basis of the process rate, i.e. the linear movement speed of the plastic film, and/or on the basis of the temperature measured in the proximity of or in correspondence with the clamping area of the melt in a thermoforming, calibration and cooling group included in the plant and positioned downstream of the system.
Lead with textured insulative layer
Described is a medical device lead including a lead body having a conductor lumen including an inner surface. The lead also includes a conductor assembly extending through the conductor lumen; the conductor assembly comprising a conductor member and an outer insulative layer; and an electrode coupled to the conductor cable. The outer insulative layer includes a textured external surface that reduces the coefficient of friction between the outer insulative layer and the inner surface of the conductor lumen through which the conductor assembly extends. Methods of forming the conductor assembly are also described.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING AN ELECTRICAL LINE, TOOL MOULD FOR SUCH A METHOD, AND LINE
A process produces an electrical line which extends in the longitudinal direction and the line has a line core and an outer shell. In a continuous shaping process, individual shell portions of the outer shell are formed successively by surrounding the line core with a curable plastic substance. In at least one portion, the outer shell is produced having a cross-sectional geometry which can be varied in the longitudinal direction of the line.
POROUS STAMP MATERIAL FOR LASER PROCESSING, POROUS STAMP USING THE SAME, AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME
The invention provides a porous stamp material for laser processing that is available for continuous extrusion molding. A material including at least 100 parts by weight of thermoplastic resin, 50-250 parts by weight of hydroxylated compound whose dehydration starting temperature is 100 to 500° C., and water-soluble pore-forming material that has 10-60 μm average particle diameter is mixed to obtain a mixed material. The obtained mixed material is extruded to obtain an extrusion molded product. The obtained extrusion molded product is processed with an aqueous solvent to elute the water-soluble pore-forming material, thereby yielding a porous stamp material that has continuous pores having 10-60 μm pore diameter. The obtained porous stamp material is laser-processed to manufacture a stamp.
ELASTOMERIC AND FLEXIBLE CABLES
Systems and methods presented herein provide for elastomeric and flexible cables. In one embodiment, an elastomeric cable comprises an elastomeric core (e.g., a stretchable polymer) and at least one cabling component wound about the elastomeric core along a length of the elastomeric core.
PATTERNED MICROPOROUS BREATHABLE FILM AND METHOD OF MAKING THE PATTERNED MICROPOROUS BREATHABLE FILM
Microporous breathable films include a polyolefin and an inorganic filler dispersed in the polyolefin.
Die for continuously manufacturing textured surfaces and methods of manufacture thereof
Disclosed herein is a die assembly comprising a first attachment block having a passage, an inlet port and an exit port; where the passage is operative to transport a molten material from the inlet port to the outlet port; a die; and a conduit; where the conduit comprises a passage that is operative to transport the molten material from the first attachment block to an entry port of the die; where the die comprises a first outer tube; and an extrusion pin that comprises a post and fins; where the extrusion pin is located in the first outer tube using the fins and where the post extends from the fins in a direction away from the entry port of the die; and where the post comprises one or more passages; where at least of these passages open to the atmosphere to provide for pressure equalization; and a travelling template; the template being operative to contact an extrudate that emanates from the die and to transfer a texture to a surface of the extrudate by virtue of pressure applied by a guide tube to the extrudate via the travelling template.
RAM EXTRUDING THIN PANELS OF UHMW POLYMERS
A ram extrusion apparatus including a die having several thermal zones, a hopper for introducing a granular polymer resin to the die, and a ram for moving the granular polymer resin through the thermal zones of the die and out from an outlet end thereof at a temperature above the crystalline melt temperature of the polymer resin. The hopper may be designed to deliver the polymer resin into a resin inlet of the die in a plurality of specifically metered amounts which may vary across a width of the resin inlet end of the die. The apparatus may further include one or more finishing tables positioned after the outlet end of the die for receiving and moving the extruded resin away from the outlet end of the die so that there is no backpressure on the extruded resin, and which provide compression force and even cooling to the extruded resin.
Apparatus and method for forming retaining elements by forming
A method of forming a retaining device with hooks, wherein: a molding strip is provided that presents an inside face and an outside face, and that has a plurality of cavities, each cavity defining a stem extending from the outside face towards the inside face and including an end forming a head that extends from the stem towards the inside face of the molding strip; and the molding strip is positioned on rotary drive means, comprising at least two rollers, the inside face of the molding strip being arranged to bear against the drive means.
