20180281341 · 2018-10-04 ·

A fibre-containing sheet comprising a folding pattern and a partly or fully folded sheet product obtained from the fibre-containing sheet is disclosed. The folding pattern of the fibre-containing sheet comprises a series of parallel straight fold lines and a series of zigzag fold lines. Each zigzag fold line has a breadth which is greater than a breadth of a straight fold line. The partly folded sheet product can be shaped into various complex geometrical shapes, including spheres and saddle points, as a result of the folding pattern. A method for producing the fibre-containing sheet as well as use of the fibre-containing sheet is also disclosed.

Method and apparatus for forming delivery devices for oral intake of an agent

Methods, systems and apparatuses are provided for producing delivery devices, preferably for oral intake of an agent. In the broadest aspect, the method comprises assembling one or more layers comprising one or more materials with an agent or an agent-releasing formulation to form an intergraded, preferably laminated device; folding said integrated delivery device to form a folded integrated delivery device; and at least partially enclosing said folded delivery device to a form suitable for oral delivery. Preferably, the integrated device comprise a first external layer of a first material; a frame of a second material mounted on the first external layer; an agent-releasing formulation housed within the frame; and a second external layer of the first material mounted on the frame.

Curved crease honeycombs with tailorable stiffness and dynamic properties

Issues with pleat walled honeycombs are solved by replacing polygonal creases with curved creases. As with a conventional straight-walled honeycomb, these strips can be combined into a space-filling honeycomb structure. The benefits of these curved creases are threefold. First, the stress concentrations mentioned above with pleat-walled honeycombs are mitigated. The stress due to finite material thickness is spread more evenly over the crease line, instead of being concentrated at a point, as with pleat walled honeycombs. As a result, the maximal value observed is lower and the adverse effects are reduced. Second, the curved creases also serve to give better control over material properties, and third, the curved crease honeycombs do not require any of the horizontally-running creases. The curves are typically mathematical curves that can be computed algebraically or by solving a differential equation.

A piece of substrate material is formed under heat and pressure by a roller against a cavity or platen into a shaped substrate sheet having one or more depressions. Two substrate sheets are bonded together to form a substrate wherein the one or more depressions form one or more interior channels. The substrate is coated with a dope in a casting device having a guide portion corresponding to the shape of the substrate sheets and quenched to form a filtering membrane.
