A urinary catheter (20) includes a shaft (22) having a hydrophilic material and a distal end and a proximal end with a lumen running between the two. The proximal end includes an eyelet (24) that is in fluid communication with the lumen. A handle is attached to the distal end of the shaft and includes a first grip member (28) and a second grip member (32) configured so that the first grip member pivots relative to the second grip member. A sleeve (34) defines an interior chamber (45), and the shaft is positioned within the interior chamber. The sleeve is sealed to the first grip member so that when the first grip member is pivoted, the sleeve is torn open.

A housing tool suppresses rotation of a tubular body in a winding direction that holds an elongated medical body in a packaging body, and suppresses deformation of a distal end portion of the elongated medical body. The housing tool includes a tube-shaped holder that is wound in a circular shape for holding a guide wire, a fastening member that fixes adjacent portions of the wound holder, and a mounting member that includes engagement portions and to be engaged with the fastening member, reaches an outer side of a circle of the holder wound in a circular shape, and covers an end portion of the holder from which the guide wire is derived.

Blood control catheter with antimicrobial needle lube
09789280 · 2017-10-17 · ·

An antimicrobial lubricant applied to an outer surface of an introducer needle as part of a catheter assembly device. The catheter assembly device further includes a blood control septum having a slit through which the introducer needle is threaded. The antimicrobial lubricant is squeegeed, or removed from the outer surface of the introducer needle as the needle is removed from the slit following catheterization. The removed antimicrobial lubricant forms a deposit on the septum at a location proximate to the slit, thereby preventing colonization and growth of pathogens on the septum and other adjacent components and surfaces of the catheter assembly device.

Systems and methods for providing an integrated package and grip for catheter
09789289 · 2017-10-17 · ·

An integrated individual package and an introducer needle or wire for placing a catheter in a patient's vasculature, wherein the package doubles as a grip for placing the catheter. Prior to activation, the catheter is coaxially and slidably disposed over the introducer needle and the catheter and introducer needle assemblies are contained within the integrated package grip. The device is activated as the catheter and introducer needle assemblies are simultaneously transitioned from a closed position to an open position wherein the catheter and introducer needle assemblies are oriented for insertion into a patient's vasculature. Following placement of the catheter in a patient's vasculature, the device is deactivated as the introducer needle is withdrawn and transitioned from the open position to resume the closed position. The package grip comprises a sharps shuttle to protect a clinician from needle stick injuries.

Tray for temporary storage of catheters and other coiled surgical devices

A storage tray provides storage for multiple types of wires, catheters, and other instruments used during surgical procedures. The storage tray includes a base and a set of walls forming a basin that holds liquid. A wire containment section within the basin holds multiple coiled guidewires in a channel filled with the liquid. The wire containment section includes an inner wall and one or more wall segments forming an outer boundary of the channel. A wire holder outside the channel holds end portions of the guidewires. Pulling an end portion of one of the coiled guidewires horizontally causes the guidewire to slide along the inner wall for separation and removal from the storage tray.

Packages for medical products are disclosed. The packages include a housing (12) and a lid (14) attached to said housing. The lid includes a lifting member (30) that contacts an engagement surface (23) on the medical device whereby opening of said lid allows for removal and presentation of the device for hygienic retrieval by the user.

CURVED URINARY CATHETER

A catheter assembly including curved urinary catheter and a similarly curved housing for holding and carrying the same are disclosed. A catheter subassembly may be removed from the housing and mounted onto the handle to provide the catheter assembly in an extended deployed condition. The insertable portion of the catheter is curved in a way that compliments the curvature of the female urethra.

Urinary catheters with protective tip

A protective catheter tip has a generally tubular body portion defining an interior cavity. The proximal end of a urinary catheter is at least partially received within the protective tip, with the protective tip being retained on the urinary catheter without the need for a sleeve connecting the protective tip and the catheter. The protective tip may include a projection received within a draining hole or eye at the proximal end of the catheter to retain the protective tip on the catheter. The protective tip may instead include one or more projections that apply a frictional force to an outer surface of the catheter to retain the protective tip on the catheter. The protective tip may instead be retained on the catheter by a tether extending between the protective tip and a distal end of the catheter. The protective tip may also be provided in two pieces.
