Methods, processes, and apparatuses for producing dyed and welded substrates
A welding process may be configured to convert a substrate comprised of short staple fibers into a welded substrate having significantly increased strength as compared to the raw substrate. When applied to a one-dimensional substrate, such as a yarn, the welding process may also reduce the diameter of the welded substrate compared to that of the raw substrate. Additionally, the welding process may be configured to impart superior color properties to the welded substrate compared to the color properties of the raw substrate, which superior color properties may be very pronounced when performing a welding process on a raw substrate comprised of colored and/or dyed recycled fibers.
Surface geometry for adhesive bonding of polymer components
A method of joining polymer components includes additively manufacturing first and second mating features on first and second polymer components such that a mechanical lock is created through undercut geometric features of an adhesive material when the polymer components are joined. Adhesive is added between the mating components to strengthen the joint.
Reagent bottle with aspiration pipe
An embodiment of a reagent container includes a bottle with a pipe to reduce the effects of reagent sloshing. The bottle has an elongated base and an opposed cover connected by side walls and an end wall. A flat platform surrounded by a raised rim lies in the base opposite an opening in the cover. A ribbed pipe frictionally fits within the bottle opening and may attach to the anchor region leaving vent passages around the pipe. The pipe includes an aperture adjacent to the anchor region and oriented toward the end wall so that sloshed fluid has only a small effect on the level of reagent in the pipe during transfers. A modified blow molding process produces the anchor region by extending a pin a predetermined distance into a mold while the molded material is still plastic.
Laminated structure and method for manufacturing the same
A laminated structure has a first layer formed from a fiber reinforced plastic, a second layer formed from a fiber reinforced plastic and arranged opposed to the first layer, a first core layer formed from a first resin foam and arranged between the first layer and the second layer, and a second core layer formed from a second resin foam and arranged between the first core later and the second layer. The first resin foam has a higher flame resistance than the second resin foam. A laminated structure having flame resistance and high strength enough to endure a bird strike or the like at the same time can be manufactured at relatively low manufacturing cost.
Method of making an aerosol dispenser having annular seals and method of making an aerosol container therefor
A method of making an aerosol container suitable for use as an aerosol dispenser. The aerosol container includes at least a valve and product delivery device joined to an outer container. The method has the steps of sealing the valve to the product delivery device and outer container at respective annular welds or other bonds joining the valve to the product delivery and to the outer container. The welds, or other bonds may be concentric, with one circumscribing the other, in the same plane or different planes. Suitable product delivery devices include bags and dip tubes. Suitable welds include spin welds.
HEAT-SHRINKABLE LABEL, PACKAGE, AND MANUFACTURING METHOD FOR HEAT-SHRINKABLE LABEL
Provided are a heat-shrinkable label and a package each having solvent bonded-portion where solvent penetration-through is not caused even when the film is thin. Provided are particularly a heat-shrinkable label and a package each having solvent bonded-portion gaining a high peel strength stability even when the film is passed through a tubing step made high in speed. A heat-shrinkable label has a tubular shape, in which both end portions of a heat-shrinkable polyvinyl chloride-based film or a heat-shrinkable polystyrene-based film are bonded to each other with a solvent composition. The solvent composition contains at least one organic solvent selected from the group consisting of tetrahydrofuran (THF), methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) and ethyl acetate, and at least one resin selected from the group consisting of polyester, polypropylene and hydrogenated petroleum resin, and the end portion bonded has a peel strength of 2 N/15 mm or more.
METHODS AND FORMULATIONS FOR BONDING DISSIMILAR MATERIALS
The present disclosure is directed to a formulations of cements and methods for bonding dissimilar materials. The formulations and methods can bond a Non-polyvinyl chloride (PVC) containing first polyolefin that is amorphous or has low crystallinity to a second material that is a rigid material or a hard PVC. The methods and formulations can work by co-dissolution at an interface, or activation of a one of the materials prior to bonding.
Snap fitting for plumbing
A snap fitting for use in plumbing is provided. The snap fitting includes a main body formed of plastic and shaped to extend partially around a cylindrical pipe to snap over the pipe and an inset for extending from an interior side of the main body into a hole in the cylindrical pipe.
WELDING METHOD
A method for welding a first hose end at a joint with a second hose end in a seam that extends on a circumference of the first hose end, the method comprising the steps: applying a protective layer at the joint to an inside of the first hose end; pushing the second hose end beyond the joint over the first hose end; pressing the first hose end and the second hose end together flat at the joint between two first damping jaws that are moved towards each other; welding the first hose end and the second hose end together by two first partial seams while pressed together, wherein the protective layer prevents a welding of the inside of the first hose end; releasing the first hose end and the second hose end from the two first clamping jaws after welding the two first partial seams.
HEAT-SHRINKABLE POLYESTER-BASED LABEL, PACKAGE, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING HEAT-SHRINKABLE POLYESTER-BASED LABEL
Provided are a heat-shrinkable polyester-based label, and a package which each have a solvent-bonded portion where no solvent permeation-through is caused even when a film of the label is small in thickness. Provided are, in particular, a heat-shrinkable polyester-based label and a package which each have a solvent-bonded portion giving a high peel strength stably even through a high-speed tubing step, or even when the film is a heat-shrinkable polyester-based film in which a PET-bottle-recycled material is used in a large proportion. The label is a heat-shrinkable polyester-based label that is a tubular label in which both end portions of a heat-shrinkable polyester-based film are bonded to each other with a solvent composition. In this label, the solvent composition is a solvent composition containing at least 1,3-dioxolane and/or tetrahydrofuran (THF), and a polyester, and the end portion bonded has a peel strength of 2 N/15 mm or more.
