The first (5) and the second portion (6) of the composite strip arrangement are disposed over a first surface (1a) of the composite structure (1), such that the major dimension of the core (3) is positioned transversal to said first surface (1 a). The at least one insert (2) is co-cured with the composite structure (1).
JOINING COMPONENTS
A method for joining a first component and a second component. The method includes forming a first bond between the first component and the second component by providing a plurality of projections on the first component and embedding the plurality of projections in the second component; creating a fastener hole which passes through the first component and the second component and which encompasses at least one of the projections; and forming a second bond between the first component and the second component by installing a fastener in the fastener hole.
CONTINUOUS FIBER REINFORCED COMPOSITE AND METAL ELECTROFUSION COUPLER
Disclosed embodiments provide an electrofusion pipe coupler with mechanical support. The electrofusion pipe coupler comprises a coupler housing. A wire is configured and disposed within the housing. Electrodes are affixed to the coupler housing and in electrical contact with the wire. A threaded pattern is formed in an outer surface of the coupler housing. Gripping wedges are affixed to the coupler housing. Each gripping wedge extends from the coupler housing. A nut is attached to the coupler housing, engaging with the threaded pattern, and compressing the wedges against the connecting pipes. This serves to provide axial load transfer from the connecting pipes to the coupler housing via the wedges, thereby providing improved mechanical stability for such pipe assemblies.
CHILD-RESISTANT CONTAINERS HAVING SPINNING COLLAR CAP ASSEMBLIES AND METHODS FOR THE MANUFACTURE THEREOF
Child-resistant containers or packages having spinning collar cap assemblies are provided, as are methods for manufacturing such containers. In various embodiments, the child-resistant container includes a container body having an inner cavity, an opening to the inner cavity, and a container neck circumscribing the opening. A spinning collar is retained around the container neck and is rotatable relative thereto in at least a first rotational direction. The child-resistant container further includes an overcap, which is sized and shaped to enclose the opening when attached to the spinning collar. Through the provision of a suitable threaded interface the overcap can be (i) detached from the spinning collar by rotation of the overcap relative to the spinning collar in the first rotational direction and (ii) removably attached to the spinning collar by rotation of the overcap relative to the spinning collar in a second rotational direction opposite the first rotational direction.
METHODS OF FABRICATION OF COMPOSITE REPAIR PARTS AND RELATED KITS
Composite laminates fabricated from one or more respective laminae of composite material (e.g., fiber-reinforced polymers) may be pre-formed and fully cured, yet configured to be selectively conformable to a desired radius of curvature. To repair a damaged composite structure, a plurality of such composite laminates may be bonded together to form a repair part that may be bolted to or otherwise secured to the damaged composite structure, thereby repairing the structure using repair parts that may match the parent material of the damaged composite structure. Methods of forming said repair parts from a plurality of such composite laminates may provide advantages in costs and lead time, over conventional techniques. Kits may include a plurality of such pre-formed and cured composite laminates that may be stacked and combined together in a plurality of different arrangements to create a customizable repair part for a given damaged composite structure.
Component with a fastening region for a threaded connection, together with a moulded part and a fastening part
The invention relates to a component (1) having a fastening region (2) for a threaded connection, wherein the component has a surface (3) having fiber material (5) embedded and integrated into a matrix (4) in at least one layer, wherein the fiber material has a fiber course substantially parallel to the surface, wherein the surface has a fastening opening (6) having a center axis (7) arranged at an angle to the surface and wherein the fastening opening is provided for an internal thread (8). In the region of the fastening opening, the fiber material lying parallel to the surface is deflected, starting from the surface, in such a way that the fiber course of the fiber material after the deflection is at an angle to the surface that approaches the direction of the center axis. Furthermore, a tube (9) is formed by means of the deflected fiber material. The invention further relates to a molded part and to a fastening part for such components.
Connector for non-cylindrical composite tubing and methods for making the same
A connector for non-cylindrical composite tubing and methods for making the same. The method may involve assembling a connector for a non-cylindrical composite tubing by loosely fastening a pair of bonding plates to an end plate; arranging the bonding plates in an inward configuration; applying an epoxy adhesive onto the outer faces of the bonding plates, inserting the bonding plates into the open end of the composite tubing, inserting the bonding plate fasteners through the through-holes of the composite tubing and tightly fastening the bonding plate fasteners into the bonding plates until the bonding plates engage against the inner surface of the composite tubing until the epoxy adhesive is uniformly distributed. The method may also include steps of removing the bonding plate screw fasteners and adding shims between each bonding plate and the inner surface of the composite tubing in order to maintain a predetermined thickness of the epoxy adhesive.
