Vacuum fixture
Disclosed is a vacuum fixture. The vacuum fixture may include a base plate assembly, a middle frame assembly, and a top plate assembly. The base plate assembly may have a first hinged edge. The middle frame assembly may be connected to the base plate proximate the first hinged edge and may define a void. The top plate assembly may have a second hinged edge connected to the first hinged edge, such that when the top plate assembly is in a closed position the middle frame assembly is located in between and contacts a first surface of the base plate assembly and a first surface of the top plate assembly, thereby forming a cavity in between the base plate assembly and the top plate assembly.
Assembly and Method of Coupling Pipes
A jig assembly and method of use are provided for positioning and re-rounding pipes for welding. The jig assembly comprises a first jaw assembly and a second jaw assembly which position and move a coupling onto one pipe then the second pipe for subsequent welding.
Fluid viscosity control during wafer bonding
Techniques and mechanisms for bonding a first wafer to a second wafer in the presence of a fluid, the viscosity of which is greater than a viscosity of air at standard ambient temperature and pressure. In an embodiment, a first surface of the first wafer is brought into close proximity to a second surface of the second wafer. The fluid is provided between the first surface and the second surface when a first region of the first surface is made to contact a second region of the second surface to form a bond. The viscosity of the fluid mitigates a rate of propagation of the bond along a wafer surface, which in turn mitigates wafer deformation and/or stress between wafers. In another embodiment, the viscosity of the fluid is changed dynamically while the bond propagates between the first surface and the second surface.
System and method for assisting in the manufacture of a wind turbine blade shell
A method of manufacturing a wind turbine blade shell part is described. Fibre mats and a root end insert are laid up in a mould part in a layup procedure by use of an automated layup system. The fibre mats are laid up by use of a buffer so that the fibre mats may continuously be laid up on the mould surface, also during a cutting procedure. The root end insert is prepared in advance and mounted on a mounting plate. The root end insert is lowered onto the mould by use of the mounting plate and a lowering mechanism. After the wind turbine blade shell has been moulded, the mounting plate is removed.
DEVICE FOR THERMALLY WELDING PLASTIC PARTS, AND ASSEMBLY CONTAINING A DEVICE OF THIS KIND
A device for thermally welding workpieces including a heating element and a shielding gas supply is provided. The device includes a heating plate consisting of a thermal insulating material in which a groove is formed, said groove includes a heating element, relative to which a surface of a workpiece to be welded is positioned in close proximity to the heating element. A feed channel for a shielding gas is formed in the heating plate and communicates with the groove via at least one through-channel, and the feed channel for supplying shielding gas can be connected to a shielding gas source via a feed line and a valve. The device may further include an assembly for welding a first and a second workpiece, said assembly includes a first and second movement device for moving the workpieces towards one another.
METHOD OF FORMING A REINFORCED PANEL COMPONENT AND A RELATED APPARATUS
A method of forming a reinforced panel may include engaging a reinforcement component having a faying surface with a first portion of a heated press, engaging an uncured panel component with an opposing second portion of the press, the panel component having a faying surface complementarily-configured with respect to the faying surface of the reinforcement component, treating the faying surface of the reinforcement component such that the faying surface is active for co-bonding with respect to the panel component, actuating the press to direct the first and second portions of the press toward each other, such that the faying surfaces are complementarily engaged under pressure; and heating the first and second portions of the press to a curing temperature associated with the panel component to substantially simultaneously co-bond the faying surfaces of the reinforcement component and the panel component together, cure the panel component, and form the reinforced panel.
Tube joining device
A tube joining device which is capable of preventing occurrence of a joining failure. The tube joining device includes: a first tube holding portion for holding a first tube; a second tube holding portion for holding a second tube; a tube superimposing portion that aligns the first tube and the second tube; and a switching mechanism switching from a state of holding the second tube to a state of releasing the second tube.
MODULAR ROTOR BLADES AND ASSOCIATED MANUFACTURING METHODS AND SYSTEMS
A system for manufacturing a rotor blade comprises a first tooling, positioned at a factory location and configured to assemble a first blade module, comprising a first-module skin and a first-module spar, each comprising a first thermoplastic polymer and a first reinforcement material. The system also comprises a second tooling, configured to assemble a second blade module, comprising a second-module skin and a second-module spar, each comprising a second thermoplastic polymer and a second reinforcement material. The system further comprises a first support, positioned at a field location and configured to receive the first blade module, and a second support, positioned at the field location and configured to receive the second blade module. The system also comprises a spar welding assembly, positioned at the field location and configured to join the first-module spar with the second-module spar.
Tube joining device
Provided is a tube joining device that allows a user to easily and appropriately perform setting of tubes which become a joining target, and is capable of preventing occurrence of a joining failure caused by a setting error of the tubes in advance. A tube joining device 1 includes: a first tube holding portion 41 that is capable of holding a first tube T1; a second tube holding portion 42 that is disposed in adjacent to the first tube holding portion, and is capable of holding a second tube T2 at a position that is parallel to the first tube; and a housing 2 that is provided with a cover member 20 that is closed to cover fusion-joining sites C of the first tube and the second tube. The cover member is slidable along a direction in which the first tube and the second tube are disposed in parallel.
