pH-MODULATING DRUG DELIVERY DEVICES AND METHODS
Drug delivery devices and methods are provided for modulating the microenvironmental pH surrounding the device. One embodiment of a drug delivery device includes an elongated annular body formed of a matrix system containing a drug dispersed in a biocompatible polymer and a pH modifier disposed in the lumen of the body, wherein the device is configured to release in vivo (i) the drug by diffusion from the annular body and (ii) the pH modifier by diffusion through the annular body. Methods in clude inserting into the patient a device and releasing the drug and pH modifier therefrom by diffusion.
Active Agent Delivery Devices and Methods of Using the Same
Provided are active agent delivery devices configured to deliver an active agent formulation into or through a mucosal layer in a subject. The active agent delivery devices include a power reservoir configured to eject the active agent formulation at a pressure sufficient to deliver the active agent formulation into or through a mucosal layer in a subject. Methods of using the subject active agent delivery devices are also provided.
Controlled drug delivery
A medical device for placement in a body of a mammal is provided. The medical device comprises (1) a polymeric matrix forming the device and defining a lumen through the device, the matrix comprising polymer macromolecules and defining spaces between the polymer macromolecules; (2) a drug contained within at least some of the spaces of the matrix; and (3) a material contained within at least some of the spaces of the matrix to affect diffusion of the drug out of the polymeric matrix when the medical device is placed in the boy of the mammal.
Modular ingestible drug delivery capsule
An ingestible capsule (10) is provided for delivery of a drug, the capsule (10) comprises a first module (11) and a second module (12). The first module (11) has at least one drug compartment (13) for comprising an amount of the drug. The drug compartment (13) is sealed by a foil (14) with an embedded conducting heating wire (15). The second (12) module comprises electronics (18) for providing an electrical pulse to the heating wire (15) in order to open the drug compartment (13) by melting the foil (14). The first module (11) and second module (12) comprise interoperable connection means (19) for securing the first module (11) to the second module (12) such that the heating wire (15) is electronically coupled to the electronics (18).
Devices and methods for intraluminal retention and drug delivery
Retention devices and methods are provided for drug delivery. The device may include a housing configured for intraluminal deployment into a human or animal subject and at least one reservoir contained within the housing. The at least one reservoir may have an actuation end and a release end and contain at least one drug formulation. A plug may be contained within the at least one reservoir and be moveable from the actuation end toward the release end. The device may also include an actuation system operably connected to the actuation end of the at least one reservoir and configured to drive the at least one drug formulation from the reservoir. The device may also include at least one retention member affixed to the housing and movable between a non-stressed position, a deployment position, and a retention position for retaining the device in an intraluminal location in the subject.
Methods for increasing genetic progress in a line or breed of swine using sex-selected sperm cells
The invention relates to methods of increasing the genetic progress of a line, breed or herd of swine through the use of sex-selected sperm cells in artificial insemination techniques. The invention also encompasses methods of artificially inseminating a swine via deep intrauterine catheter or via a laparoscopic procedure, which allow the use of reduced doses of sex-selected sperm cells.
Imaging fiducial markers and methods
An implantable tissue marker incorporates a contrast agent sealed within a chamber in a container formed from a solid material. The contrast agent is selected to produce a change, such as an increase, in signal intensity under magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). An additional contrast agent may also be sealed within the chamber to provide visibility under another imaging modality, such as computed tomographic (CT) imaging or ultrasound imaging.
Ingestible device with relatively large payload volume
Ingestible devices with a relatively large payload volume or sample volume, as well as related components, systems and methods, are disclosed.
Method and apparatus for ultrasound guided refilling of a drug delivery pump
An apparatus for the ultrasound guided refilling of a drug delivery pump includes an ultrasound imaging transducer having a nosepiece and a support device coupled to the nosepiece of the ultrasound imaging transducer. The support device can have two support holes whose centers are positioned along a horizontal axis of the support device. A marker can be placed in each of the two support holes. The vertical axis of the ultrasound imaging transducer coincides with the vertical axis of the support device. When imaging using this apparatus and the port inlet of the pump is visualized using the ultrasound transducer, two primary marks on skin can be created by inserting a marker into the support holes. The apparatus can then be rotated around its vertical axis, and a marker again inserted into the support holes to create two secondary marks. The inlet port of the pump is then marked at the intersection of lines which connects the primary marks and respectively the secondary marks.
DRUG TREATMENT METHOD AND DELIVERY DEVICE
Provided is a treatment method and a medical device that can intentionally and locally administer a drug to a lesion area appearing in a narrow blood vessel such as a retinal blood vessel and a spinal blood vessel. The treatment method has an introduction step of introducing a medical elongated body having a drug holder for holding a drug into a living body, an arrangement step of arranging the drug holder at a treatment target inside the living body, and a discharge step of discharging the drug to the treatment target by releasing the drug held by the drug holder.
