Urinary Placement Catheter for Intravesical Devices
An inserter assembly (200) for deploying an intravesical device into a urinary bladder of a patient includes a placement catheter (210), a receiving funnel (220), and a stylet (230). The placement catheter defines a lumen extending from a proximal catheter end to an exit opening. The receiving funnel is secured to the placement catheter. The stylet is removably received through the receiving funnel within the lumen. The stylet includes a stylet body and a paddle (238). The stylet body is dimensioned to drive the intravesical device through the lumen and the exit opening into the bladder. The paddle is fixed to the stylet body about the proximal stylet end and is engageable with the receiving funnel. The paddle optionally includes a fitting (242) being lockably engageable with the receiving funnel to removably secure the stylet to the placement catheter.
SINGLE-USE SUPPOSITORY INSERTION DEVICE AND METHOD
A single-use suppository insertion device includes a barrel, a plunger configured to be movably coupled to the barrel, and a disabling feature of the barrel or the plunger. The disabling feature may be configured to be activated during operational motion of the plunger relative to the barrel, such as during insertion of or withdrawal away from a suppository. The device can include a structural element of the barrel or the plunger configured to engage with the disabling feature of the barrel or the plunger during insertion of or withdrawal away from the suppository to activate the disabling feature. The disabling feature may be implemented in a number of ways to ensure single-use operation of the single-use suppository insertion device.
Method and apparatus for inserting a rectal suppository
Rectal suppositories are used to administer a predetermined drug dosage to treat a variety of diseases and symptoms in a variety of patient populations. Certain medical conditions, such as digestive disorders, may be more effectively treated when the suppository is placed in a particular location of the patient's anal canal or rectum. An apparatus for inserting a suppository can include an applicator having a barrel, such as a hollow cylindrical body, and a plunger, such as a substantially cylindrical elongated body. The apparatus can include features to ensure that beneficial gas flow paths associated with the plunger or the barrel are maintained or that the apparatus can accommodate suppositories of different sizes. Embodiments may include features to facilitate gripping and manipulation of the apparatus for use by patients with limited dexterity. These benefits may encourage patients to maintain a course of treatment, thereby potentially avoiding additional complications, hospitalization, and costs.
Methods and apparatus for administering small volume oral transmucosal dosage forms
Systems and methods for administration of small volume sufentanil drug dosage forms to the sublingual mucosa of a subject using a device are disclosed. The dispensing device includes a lock-out feature and a means to retard or prevent saliva and/or moisture ingress such that the drug dosage forms in the device remain dry prior to administration.
THERAPEUTIC AGENT PREPARATIONS FOR DELIVERY INTO A LUMEN OF THE INTESTINAL TRACT USING A SWALLOWABLE DRUG DELIVERY DEVICE
Embodiments of the invention provide swallowable devices, preparations and methods for delivering drugs and other therapeutic agents within the GI tract. Many embodiments provide a swallowable device for delivering the agents. Particular embodiments provide a swallowable device such as a capsule for delivering drugs into the intestinal wall or other GI lumen. Embodiments also provide various drug preparations that are configured to be contained within the capsule, advanced from the capsule into the intestinal wall and degrade to release the drug into the bloodstream to produce a therapeutic effect. The preparation can be operably coupled to delivery means having a first configuration where the preparation is contained in the capsule and a second configuration where the preparation is advanced out of the capsule into the intestinal wall. Embodiments of the invention are particularly useful for the delivery of drugs which are poorly absorbed, tolerated and/or degraded within the GI tract.
Applicator for dispensing a medicinal substance and methods associated therewith
An applicator 270 includes a stem 174 having an axially-formed slot delivery passage 200. A slot 350 is formed transaxially through the stem 174 and is in communication with the slot delivery passage 200. An extended side wall 350b is formed on one side of the slot 350. A flat surface 354, which is formed in the stem 174, is spaced and extends angularly away from an opposite side of the slot 176 and from the extended side wall 350b to provide for direct and lateral dispensing of a cream 280 onto a tissue 242 of a patient.
Applicator for oral administration of a swallowable object to a patient
The application relates to an applicator (1) for oral administration of a swallowable object (2), in particular a solid dosage form, to a patient, wherein the applicator comprises a housing (3) having a first opening (4) and a second opening (5), the first opening of the housing being configured to be coupled with a liquid reservoir, in particular a drinking vessel, and the second opening of the housing being configured such that the patient can drink therefrom, and a holder (6) disposed within the housing and configured to accommodate the swallowable object, the holder being further configured to allow the swallowable object to be conveyed towards the second opening of the housing when liquid is flowing through the housing from the first opening to the second opening of the housing.
MEDICAMENT APPLICATOR
Apparatus and methods for inserting a medicament into a body cavity are described. The apparatus comprises an elongate tube with a plunger rod therein. The plunger rod has at least one projection which cooperatively interacts or engages with at least one discontinuity on the inside of the elongate tube so that proximal movement of the plunger rod with respect to the elongate tube expels the medicament into the body cavity.
Medical instruments of treating and/or diagnosing of anorectal disorders, and devices and methods for insertion of such
A medical instrument for treating and/or diagnosing anorectal disorders which comprises a slender member that is sized and shaped for being placed in the anal canal of a patient, along at least a portion of the anal sphincter, so that an outer surface of the slender member is in contact with inner walls of the anal canal.
System for delivery of medication in treatment of disorders of the pelvis
A system for delivery of medication in treatment of disorders of the pelvis is disclosed. The system includes a medicament applied to an implantable device and an insertion tool. The implantable device has a first end opposite from a second end, with the first end of the implantable device insertable into tissue within the pelvis. A retrieval string is coupled to the second end of the implantable device. The insertion tool includes a shaft extending between a proximal end and a distal end, with a handle coupled to the proximal end of the insertion tool and the distal end of the insertion tool is adapted to couple with the implantable device.
