The pocket can be knitted, weaved or otherwise assembled on an automated assembly machine from strands, and/or can be formed as a unitary textile material having regions/sections with different physical and/or mechanical properties. The pocket can be integrally molded within portions of a lacrosse head to eliminate manually constructed connections between the pocket and lacrosse head. The pocket can include a perimeter flange constructed from special materials and/or a perimeter flange including intermittent voids along an outer edge so that the perimeter flange stretches when the pocket is in a loaded state with the lacrosse ball therein, thereby providing dampening to the pocket when a lacrosse ball exerts force upon the pocket in the loaded state.

Continuous fiber tow structures are used to form lattice reinforcing bodies to be embedded in a molded polymer matrix. The lattice structures are formed and shaped to reinforce a portion of a predetermined three-dimensional article. Optionally, some or all of the tow members of the structure may be formed with internal vascular passages for passage of a heat transfer fluid through the structure in the function of the molded polymer article. A liquid polymer is molded around the lattice structure, fully embedding the structure. The liquid polymer which may contain short-reinforcing fibers, is then solidified to form the composite reinforced polymer article. And connections may be made to the composite article for the flow of the fluid through vascular passages in the lattice structure within the article.

A triaxial laid scrim includes a first, second and third set of continuous fibers. The fibers of each set are regularly spaced apart and are parallel to each other. The fibers of the first set are parallel to the warp direction or to the weft direction of the scrim. The fibers of the second set and the third set are oriented symmetrically to each other, respectively at an angle of 30-80 with respect to the fibers of the first set. Distances between the fibers of the second set and the fibers of the third set are identical. The fibers of the second set cross the fibers of the third set at the intersection thereof with the fibers of the first set, thereby defining regular openings having an isosceles triangle shape. The fibers are coated and attached to each other by a coating that does not fill-up the triangle-shaped openings.

A method of manufacturing a synthetic tissue model using one or more semi-flexible polymers or resin with at least one embedded mesh material is provided herein. The model provides suitable simulation of animal tissue designed to mimic tissue stiffness through varying the polymerization to simulate tissue stiffness level. Multiple polymers or multiple layers of polymer possessing different polymerization levels can be used to simulate tissues with different layers, such as skin. A mesh incorporated in the model provides durability, and can simulate layers of tissue through selection of the mesh material. A skin model using silicone-like material with a nylon tulle mesh was used to simulate skin for surgical procedures. The nylon tulle mesh increased resistance to tearing over time, due to insertion of surgical tools, thereby increasing usable life of the model and enhancing training as the model simulated skin for longer periods of time.

The seamless panels of the present invention may be used in a variety of construction application. In one embodiment, the method includes inserting at least a portion of a plurality of lattice trusses into a mold having an axial length, inserting a first filler material into the mold, the first filler material encapsulating at least a portion of the plurality of lattice trusses to form a panel segment, translating the panel segment a linear distance, the linear distance less than the axial length of the mold such that a portion of the panel segment remains in the mold, and inserting a second filler material into the mold, the second filler material intermixing with the portion of the panel segment remaining in the mold to form a seamless panel.
