Device and method for resizing adipose tissue for implantation
11672899 · 2023-06-13 · ·

A deagglomerator for use in resizing masses of cells. The deagglomerator may include a plurality of apertures defined by a plurality of front and back edges. The masses of cells may be passed through the plurality of apertures from the front to the back, and from the back to the front, repeatedly. The deagglomerator may also include a plurality of blades that may aid in the deagglomeration of the cell masses. The deagglomerator may be configured between two syringes so that the tissue may be passed back and forth from the first syringe through the device to the second syringe, and then back again from the second syringe through the device and to the first syringe. In this way, the masses of cells may be properly deagglomerated.

Vibrating surgical instrument for liposuction and other body contouring applications

A vibrating hand held surgical instrument for loosening tissue of a patient for liposuction or body contouring procedures. The instrument includes a motor connected to a vibration actuator having an eccentric rotating mass and an end effector for engaging tissue operatively connected to the vibration actuator, wherein the motor rotates the eccentric mass to cause the end effector to vibrate to loosen tissue. A flexible shaft having first end and second ends dampen the vibration to the motor and to the operator handle.

EXPANDABLE ABSORBABLE IMPLANTS FOR BREAST RECONSTRUCTION AND AUGMENTATION

Expandable absorbable implants have been developed that are suitable for breast reconstruction following mastectomy. The implants can be implanted in the vicinity of a tissue expander, for example, by suturing to the detached edge of the pectoralis major muscle to function as a pectoralis extender, and used to form a sling for a tissue expander. The implants, which permit tissue-ingrowth and slowly degrade, can be expanded in the breast using a tissue expander in order to form a pocket for a permanent breast implant. After expansion, the tissue expander can be removed and replaced with a permanent breast implant. The expandable implants help reduce patient discomfort resulting from tissue expansion, and avoid the need to use allografts or xenografts to create the pocket for the tissue expander. The expandable absorbable implant preferably comprises poly-4-hydroxybutyrate or copolymer thereof.

Tissue processing apparatus and method for processing adipose tissue

A method for processing biological material containing stringy tissue in a container having a tissue collector disposed in a tissue retention volume on one side of an internal filter includes washing biological material contained in the tissue retention volume with wash liquid to the tissue retention volume and allowing the wash liquid and rotating the tissue collector disposed in the tissue retention volume relative to the container in a first direction of rotation about an axis of rotation to sweep the teeth positioned on the tissue collector through the biological material and to collect stringy material on the tissue collector.

A fat-harvesting syringe having a multi-functional plunger assembly. The plunger assembly comprises an outer plunger rod body, an inner central plunger rod and a piston seal assembly. The outer plunger rod body having a first and a second end. The first end having a central lumen all at its finger grip handle and at the second end having flanges that are expandable. Once the central plunger inner rod is inserted fully into central lumen of plunger rod body, the expandable flanges expands and engages with the piston seal assembly. Also when the inner plunger rod is retracted, the plunger body flanges retract back and disengages from piston seal assembly.

Simple Closed Loop System for Direct Harvest and Transfer for High Volume Fat Grafting

This invention proposes the construction of a simple closed loop system for continuous flow harvesting, collection, syphoning, and grafting of large volumes of fat. (See FIG. 1—a schematic of the overall setup). This invention uniquely bypasses the standard cumbersome and time-consuming process, that mainly being the need to first transfer fat into individual syringes prior to grafting into the patient. This is traditionally done with unmeasured, manual pressures as generated by a simple plunger syringe. It can be messy and sloppy, with loss of fat. In contrast, this innovative concept presented here simplifies the whole process into a closed loop, from the donor harvest site, and then back to the patient. The concept is modular, drawing on commonly used, interchangeable parts and pumps present and available in most basic community hospital operating rooms. The major benefit is a significant reduction in time to transfer. However there is also a simplification of the process with less air exposure time, consistent controlled limit on flow pressures, and a simple on off control that can be held in one hand. The system is adaptable to standard liposuction and introduction cannulas through standard liposuction tubing and a luer lock connection. Collection canisters are also interchangeable.

PRESSURE CONTROL DURING PROCESSING OF ADIPOSE TISSUE

An adipose tissue (AT) transfer system includes, on the aspiration side, an aspiration cannula, an aspiration pump, a container, and flexible tubing connecting the aspiration cannula to the container. On the reinjection side, the system includes a reinjection cannula, flexible tubing connecting the inlet of the reinjection cannula to the container, and a reinjection pump imposing positive-displacement pumping action on the flexible tubing and causing movement of AT in a continuous or pulsed mode. The aspiration pump operates to continually supply harvested AT to the second flexible tubing while the reinjection pumps causes continuous or pulsed deposition of the AT at the injection site. To ensure that internal pressure and/or flow of the AT through a channel of delivery of the AT to the reinjection site does not exceed a predetermined value, the system contains an external pressure sensor configured to measure such internal pressure in absence of a part that is in direct contact with the AT.

A tissue processing apparatus, a filter and a method for processing tissue therefrom #! The problem to be solved is to provide a portable apparatus for processing harvested fat to form a good quality graft that does not clog syringes, and the problem is solved by providing an apparatus as in the present invention with a filter that is inclined to the base of the apparatus and comprises of plurality of elongated protrusion that are structured at an angle on the surface of the filter and blocks the fibres when the harvested fat moves on the inclined surface of the filter, thereby filtering the harvested fat and avoiding clogging of syringes.
