Method of forming a vehicle interior system
Embodiments of a vehicle interior system and methods for forming the same are disclosed. A glass substrate is bent to a curved shape within a mold cavity, and a liquid polymer material is delivered to the mold and is in contact with the curved glass substrate. The liquid polymer is solidified to form a polymer frame that engages the bent glass substrate, and the engagement between the frame and the glass substrate holds the glass substrate in the bent shape. The temperature of the glass substrate during the bending process and formation of the frame are maintained below the glass transition temperature of the glass substrate.
DECORATED MOLDING ARTICLE AND METHOD OF FABRICATING THE SAME
A decorated molding article includes a workpiece and a composite layer structure. The composite layer structure is attached to an outer surface of the workpiece through an adhesive layer. The composite layer structure at least includes: a substrate having a first surface and a second surface opposite to each other; an optical effect layer disposed on the first surface of the substrate; and a decorative layer disposed between the first surface of the substrate and the optical effect layer. The decorative layer formed by a printing method has a thickness less than a thickness of the optical effect layer formed by a coating method, and the optical effect layer and the decorative layer each includes a protective material, an ink material, and an adhesive material. In such embodiment, the all-in-one coating material may be formed on the substrate by the coating method or the printing method to form the optical effect layer and the decorative layer with protective, color, and adhesive effects.

An insert molding apparatus includes: a lower mold including a seating part on which an insert member including a through-hole is seated; an upper mold mounted on the lower mold to receive the insert member seated on the seating part; and a first fixing part including a first head provided in the lower mold and inserted into the through-hole of the insert member when the insert member is seated, and a first drive unit that moves the first head. The first drive unit is moved to adjust a length by which the first head is inserted into the through-hole.

A composite molded article is manufactured in such a manner that a molding mold that forms a molding space by mold closing and has a weir portion projecting into the molding space is opened, a flat plate-like first member that is softened under heating is arranged in a part of a portion where the molding space is formed, the stereoscopic first molded portion is formed with mold closing, simultaneously an injected molten resin is filled in a remaining portion of the molding space around the first member outside the weir portion in a state that the weir portion is made to abut against a thin portion provided at a peripheral edge of the first molded portion, and the second molding portion joined to the first molding portion is formed by hardening molten resin after the resin is caused to contact the first molded portion.
Additively manufactured structure and method for making the same
An additively manufactured structure and methods for making and using same. In a method for making the structure, a first layer structure can be formed. A second layer structure can be formed on the first layer structure and a support structure. The support structure can be removed from the second layer structure. The second layer structure can include an overhang structure that does not deform or break after the support structure is removed. The support structure can provide support to the second layer structure during printing. Strong bridging capability of the second layer structure is not required. The support structure can be quick and easy to make. The support structure can be reusable and does not add weight to the printed structure. The support structure can be easily removed after completing of printing. Installation of the support structure can be fast without significantly interfering with printing process.
Maleimide-based copolymer, method for producing same, and resin composition obtained using same
The present invention provides a maleimide-based copolymer, a method for producing same, and a resin composition obtained using same. This maleimide-based copolymer contains 40-60 mass % of aromatic vinyl monomer units, 5-20 mass % of vinyl cyanide monomer units, and 35-50 mass % of maleimide monomer units, and is such that a 4 mass % tetrahydrofuran solution of the copolymer has a transmittance of 90% or more for light having a wavelength of 450 nm at an optical path length of 10 mm, and the residual maleimide-based monomer amount is less than 300 ppm. This maleimide-based copolymer preferably further contains 0-10 mass % of unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydride monomer units, and preferably has a glass transition temperature of 165° C. or higher.
Method for producing a vehicle composite component
A method for producing a vehicle composite component with a layer structure having a core layer in a molding tool, the core layer being formed with regions of different thickness is provided. Steps for this method may include placing a cover layer, in particular a preformed cover layer, which in particular forms an outer skin of the vehicle composite component, onto a mold base plate of the open molding tool; introducing a first fiber layer, which is impregnated with PU resin and has not been subjected to forming, between the cover layer and a first mold counterplate of the open molding tool; closing the molding tool and compression molding the first fiber layer, which is impregnated with PU resin, against the cover layer, as a result of which a preform with a first support layer containing the first fiber layer is formed and hardened while supplying heat.
