Silane-terminated adhesive for joining joints in the naval field
An adhesive which includes at least one silane-functional polymer P; at least one catalyst for crosslinking silane-functional polymers, the catalyst being selected from the group including organo-titanate, organo-zirconate, and organo-aluminate; at least one base; and at least one adhesive selected from alkoxy mercaptosilane and amino alkoxysilane, for filling wood joints. The adhesive filled into the joints is preferably sanded after the curing process. The adhesive exhibits a high UV stability and a stability against warm humid climates. The adhesive is therefore suitable for naval applications in particular, such as in the construction of boats and ships. The adhesive can be formulated so as to be black, white, or gray for example.
Rivet bonding workpiece stack-ups having one or more polymer composite workpieces
A method of rivet bonding a workpiece stack-up that includes one or more polymer composite workpieces, such as carbon fiber composite workpieces, involves several steps. In one step, adhesive is applied to a surface of the workpiece stack-up. In another step, workpiecesincluding the polymer composite workpiece(s)are brought together. In yet another step the adhesive is partially or more cured. A rivet is installed through the workpiece stack-up and through the adhesive in another step. The method strengthens the resulting rivet-bonded joint by minimizing or altogether precluding fracture, cracking, and/or delamination thereat.
Device and method for setting a press-in element
A device and a method are provided for setting a press-in element into a workpiece at a predetermined location. The device includes main body; a fixing unit, which is attached to the main body and which is designed to fix the workpiece; and a processing unit, which is attached to the main body and includes: a boring unit, which is designed to create a bore in the workpiece fixed by the fixing unit; and a pressing unit, which is designed to press a press-in element into the bore. The method fixes the workpiece; creates a bore in the workpiece; positions a press-in element over the bore; and presses the press-in element into the bore, wherein a single device is used to carry out the method.
ELECTROMAGNETIC INDUCTION WELDING DEVICE FOR JOINING COMPOSITE MATERIALS AND RELATIVE JOINING METHOD
A portable welding device comprising: a base facing a work surface, designed to receive tapes in electrically conductive composite materials to be joined or defined by at least one already positioned tape; an operating head receiving one tape at a time and movable with respect to the base along at least a first movement line parallel to the work surface; a motorized arm connecting the operating head to the base and selectively activatable to impart movements to the operating head; and feeding means selectively activatable to feed one tape at a time to the operating head and connected to the operating head; the operating head comprises a positioning roller receiving a tape at a time; a pressure roller spaced from and aligned with the positioning roller along the first movement line; and an inductor interposed between the positioning roller and the pressure roller with reference to the first movement line.
STRUCTURE MADE WITH MULTILAYER FABRIC INFUSED WITH RESIN AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THEREOF
A structure, comprising a multilayer fabric infused by a resin, is disclosed. There is also provided a method for manufacturing a structure, comprising, laying a multilayer fabric over a mold of the structure; and infusing a resin into the multilayer fabric. The structure can be, by way of example only, a canoe, a wind fairing, a panel for use as wall decoration, a cover of a body of a vehicle, a corn hole game surface or a pickle ball paddle face.
Methods of Repairing and Waterproofing Articles
A relatively thick, rubberized adhesive tape is applied to an article to repair, patch, bond, seal, or waterproof the article, to join two or more articles, and/or to modify the appearance and/or physical properties of the article, such as by thermal insulation, shock resistance, vibration resistance, electrical insulation, and the like.
Boat With An Enhanced Buoyant Body And Foam Filling Method For The Buoyant Body
The present invention relates to a boat with an enhanced buoyant body and a foam filling method for the buoyant body, wherein a first material of polyether polyol as well as a second material mixed by polymethylene polyphenyl polyisocyanate and methylene bisphenyl isocyanate build up the foam material of the buoyant body, whereby it is achieved, that safety is improved while filling the foam material.
PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING THERMOPLASTIC POLYMER COMPOSITE PARTS, AND OBJECT OBTAINED BY SAID PROCESS
The invention relates to a process (100) for manufacturing an object (1) made of thermoplastic polymer composite from at least two parts (10) made of thermoplastic polymer composite, said thermoplastic polymer composite comprising a fibrous reinforcement and a thermoplastic polymer matrix, said process comprising the steps of:
arranging (120) the two parts (10) made of thermoplastic polymer composite adjacently or overlapping at an assembly interface zone (11), and
heating (130) to melt the thermoplastic polymer matrix at said assembly interface zone (11), so as to form an object (1) made of thermoplastic polymer composite comprising a welded interface (12).
Preformed Foundation Support For a Marine Vessel Gyro-Stabilization System
A preformed foundation support for a vessel gyro-stabilization system, comprises at least three of a first side support, a second side support, a third side support, and a fourth side support. The side supports define an opening for accommodating at least a portion of a vessel gyro-stabilization system, and the side supports comprise a cuttable portion for custom fitting the preformed foundation support in a vessel. The preformed foundation support structure is installed in the vessel by cutting the cuttable portion of the preformed foundation support for custom fitting the preformed foundation support to the structure support of the vessel. The preformed foundation support structure can be manufactured as a molded fiberglass structure.
