An injection apparatus (2) comprising a housing (4) and an injector sub-assembly (6), wherein the injector sub-assembly is located within the housing; the injector sub-assembly includes a needle (20), a syringe barrel (18) and a piston (40) located within the syringe barrel; the injector sub-assembly is slidably mounted within the housing between an operative configuration in which at least a portion of the needle projects from the housing, and a retracted configuration in which the injector sub assembly is wholly located within the housing; and wherein the housing includes a housing body and needle exit door (44) pivotally connected to the body such that the door closes a needle exit aperture defined by the housing body when the injector sub-assembly is in its retracted configuration and opens when the injector sub-assembly is in its operative configuration to permit the needle to exit the housing.

Method and system for insulin bolus management
11783946 · 2023-10-10 · ·

A method of administering insulin includes receiving blood glucose measurements of a patient at a data processing device from a glucometer. Each blood glucose measurement is separated by a time interval and includes a blood glucose time associated with a time of measuring the blood glucose measurement. The method also includes receiving patient information at the data processing device and selecting a subcutaneous insulin treatment for tube-fed patients from a collection of subcutaneous insulin treatments. The selection is based on the blood glucose measurements and the patient information. The subcutaneous insulin treatment program for tube-fed patients determines recommended insulin doses based on the blood glucose times. The method also includes executing, using the data processing device, the selected subcutaneous insulin treatment.

Status indicator for drug delivery systems
11779704 · 2023-10-10 · ·

Electronic modules for attachment to a drug delivery device include delivery status sensing means (21, 22) for monitoring a delivery status of the device, a status indicator (25) with an indicator element controllable to indicate a delivery or module status, and a status indicator controller (23), which generates an indicator control signal on behalf of the status indicator element, which in turn produces a status signal. The indicator control signal has an amplitude varying monotonically in time between a minimum value and a maximum value in a first interval of a base cycle, and between the maximum value and the minimum value in a second interval of the base cycle. In at least one of the first and the second interval, the mean value of the indicator control signal is below the average of the maximum and the minimum values of the indicator control signal to realize increased energy savings.

MEDICAL SYSTEM WITH DOCKING STATION AND MOBILE MACHINE
20230326588 · 2023-10-12 ·

A computer-implemented medical system is provided. The system includes a docking station and a mobile machine. The system is configured to perform operations comprising: receiving, by the mobile machine and from a user, a request to transport the mobile machine to a target location to perform a medical treatment; automatically navigating the mobile machine to the target location; performing, by the mobile machine, the medical treatment on a patient; determining, by the mobile machine, that the medical treatment is completed and the mobile machine is disconnected from the patient; automatically navigating the mobile machine to a stationary docking station of the medical system; and determining that the mobile machine is connected to the docking station through one or more connectors, and in response, receiving, by the mobile machine, at least one of an electrical charge, a refill of one or more supplies, a cleaning, or a drain of waste.

UNIVERSAL CONNECTION DEVICE FOR PEN INJECTORS

A universal add-on for an injection pen is provided. A static portion (110) has opposing gripping members to grip a body (112) of the injection pen. A moving portion (106) has opposing gripping members to grip an actuator (114) of the injection pen. Displacement measurement devices (102) measure relative linear and rotational movement of the actuator relative to the injection pen body (112). Doses are determined and recorded based on relative movement of the static portion (110) and moving portion (106), and the dose data is transmitted wirelessly to a mobile device. The device is easily installed on injection pens by pressing opposing buttons to relieve gripping pressure imparted by the gripping members.
