More particularly, disclosed are aluminum alloy articles exhibiting controllable surface properties, including excellent bond durability. An aluminum alloy article as described herein includes a surface having a concentration of an alloying element, and a coating having a concentration of an element capable of interacting with the alloying element. Also disclosed herein are methods of providing metal articles having excellent bond durability.
HYDROGEN-FILLING HOSE
A hydrogen-filling hose includes reinforcing layers provided coaxially layered between an inner surface layer and an outer surface layer that are coaxially layered. The inner surface layer is formed of a thermoplastic resin and has a gas permeation coefficient of dry hydrogen gas, of 1×10.sup.−8 cc⋅cm/cm.sup.2⋅sec.⋅cmHg or less at 90° C. A flow path formed by the inner surface layer has a diameter of 10 mm or more and 25 mm or less. The reinforcing layers includes four layers or more and eight layers or less, and each of the reinforcing layers has a spiral structure that is formed by spirally winding a metal wire material. Pricking holes extending through the outer surface layer in a thickness direction are dispersedly provided therein.
THERMAL INSULATION SYSTEM
A thermal insulation system for an aerospace duct through which high temperature fluid, greater than 500 F, passes. The thermal insulation system can experience pressures less than 80 kilopascals and can be included in a turbine engine. The thermal insulation system includes at least a first foil layer confronting the duct, an insulation layer confronting the first foil layer, a second foil layer confronting the insulation layer, and at least one coating applied to any one of the layers.
IDENTIFYING THE LOCATION OF CONTACT BETWEEN A BALL AND A BAT
An impact label for use as a baseball training aid includes a deformable layer and an incompressible layer which may include aluminum foil and paper, respectively. The incompressible layer includes voids distributed in a regular pattern. A first side of the incompressible layer is adhered to the deformable layer. A second side of the incompressible layer is formed around the barrel of a baseball bat, e.g., via an adhesive on a base layer. Areas of the deformable layer proximate to the voids and within an area of contact with a baseball during a swing of the bat are adapted to deform in response to contact with the baseball, thereby creating dimples that are indicative of the area of contact and force of contact.
Polyurethane adhesive with chemical resistant
There is provided a pressure sensitive adhesive composition comprising a polyurethane polymer that comprises the reaction product of a polyisocyanate component and a polyol component. The polyol component has a hydrophilic-lipophilic balance (HLB) less than 10. The polyurethane further comprises 0.5 to 10 wt.-% of hydrophilic polymerized units having an HLB greater than 12, such as a reaction product of a polyethylene glycol polymer. In another embodiment, the polyurethane further comprises pendent ethylenically unsaturated groups. Also described are articles such as laminating tapes and protective films as well as methods of bonding substrates with the pressure sensitive adhesive and laminating tape.
Sliding seismic isolation device
A sliding seismic isolation device includes a structure fixation plate having a first sliding surface and a metallic slider having a second sliding surface contacting the first sliding surface. A friction member composed of a single-layer fabric is attached to the first sliding surface, the second sliding surface, or both of the first sliding surface and the second sliding surface. One of a warp and a weft is formed of multiple plied yarns into which high-strength fibers and PTFE fibers are twisted together and the other of the warp and the weft is formed of multiple high-strength fibers in the single-layer fabric. The single-layer fabric has a twill weave and is woven such that the plied yarns of the one forming the single-layer fabric are exposed at a surface opposite from the attachment side of the friction member more than the high-strength fibers of the other forming the single-layer fabric.
Ultrasonic additive manufacturing of cladded amorphous metal products
An embodiment relates to an ultrasonic additive manufacturing process, comprising joining a foil comprising a bulk metallic glass to a substrate; and forming a cladded composite comprising the foil and the substrate; wherein a thickness of the cladded composite is greater than a critical casting thickness of the bulk metallic glass, wherein the cladded composite comprises a cladding layer of the bulk metallic glass on the substrate and the bulk metallic glass comprises approximately 0% crystallinity, approximately 0% porosity, less than 50 MPa thermal stress, approximately 0% distortion, approximately 0 inch heat affected zone, approximately 0% dilution, and a strength of about 2,000-3,500 MPa.
Modular shielded enclosures with multi-layer panels and related methods
A plurality of different sized and shaped lightweight, shielded enclosures can be configured from a plurality of lightweight, shielded walls that attenuate one or more electromagnetic frequencies.
Thin-walled high temperature alloy structures via multi-material additive manufacturing
A thin-walled metal part, and a method to fabricate such a part out of various alloys. A plurality of layers are formed, each of the layers being formed on a polymer template or on a previously formed layer. A homogenizing heat treatment is used to cause chemical elements in the layers to interdiffuse, to form a single continuous layer with a substantially uniform alloy composition.
