METHOD FOR ADHESIVELY BONDING RUBBER-BASED THERMOPLASTIC SUBSTRATES
A method for adhesively bonding two substrates by means of a moisture-curable adhesive composition, wherein at least one of the substrates includes at least 40 wt.-% of a mixture, said mixture consisting of: between 15 and 99 wt.-% of at least one thermoplastic polymer; between 1 and 85 wt.-% of at least one elastomer; and wherein the moisture-curable adhesive composition includes: at least one polymer containing silane groups; between 10 and 40 wt.-% of at least one polymeric plasticizer; between 0.1 and 5 wt.-% of at least one amino-functional alkoxysilane; between 0 and 5 wt.-% of at least one C1-C12-alkyl-functional alkoxysilane. The method yields adhesively bonded substrates without the requirements of using migrating plasticizers and pre-treating of the substrates.
TUNABLE BLINDS FOR WINDOWS
Methods and apparatus for modulating light using a tunable light modulation device. The tunable light modulation devices comprises an elastomer structure including at least one elastomer layer, a compliant electrode network of conducting fibers arranged on a first surface of the at least one elastomer layer, a patterned electric conductor arranged on a second surface of the at least one elastomer layer opposite the first surface. The patterned electric conductor includes a plurality of individually-addressable sections, and the compliant electrode network is configured to compress the at least one elastomer layer in the presence of an electric field between the compliant electrode network and one or more of the individually-addressable sections of the patterned electric conductor to produce a voltage-dependent roughening of the at least one elastomer layer.
COLD-FORMED GLASS ASSEMBLIES AND METHODS OF MAKING
Various examples of the present disclosure provide a cold-formed glass assembly. The assembly includes a curved glass substrate and a curved structural frame. A coefficient of thermal expansion between the curved glass substrate and the curved structural frame are different. An adhesive can be disposed between the curved glass substrate and the curved structural frame. The assembly can further include an elastomeric layer, a matrix material or both in contact with the adhesive and disposed between the curved glass substrate and the curved structural frame.
Aircraft composite panel assembly and manufacturing method thereof
An aircraft composite panel assembly includes a first panel having upper and lower faces, the lower face having a recess on a first side of the panel, a second panel having upper and lower faces, the lower face having an outward projection at a first side of the panel, the outward projection received on the recess forming a lower continuous face; and a forward stack of plies of composite material bonded to the upper face of the first panel, the forward stack of plies having an edge overlapping the first side of the first panel, and the number of plies of the forward stack of plies decreasing toward the opposite side of the first side of the first panel.
LAMINATING FILM ADHESIVES WITH ULTRA-LOW MOISTURE PERMEABILITY
The present invention relates to curable barrier encapsulants or sealants for electronic devices that have pressure sensitive adhesive properties. The encapsulants are especially suitable for electronic devices that require low water vapor transmission rate.
TRANSFER FILM AND MEMBRANE COVERINGS FOR PANEL PRODUCTS
A membrane covered panel and a membrane covered panel production method are provided wherein an elastomeric membrane, and preferably, an aqueous elastomeric resin-based membrane, is applied to a finished panel construct, prior to pressing of the membrane covered panel. The method is used to produce panels which can be used in the production of flooring materials, wall panels, furniture, countertops, and the like. The membrane is applied to a transfer film, which transfer film can be removed at any time prior to, or after the pressing operation. The panels produced have a durable but elastic surface which can protect the surfaces of the panel construct. The elastomeric covering on the panel construct also preferably provides a surface which is abrasion resistant, and provides better acoustical properties while providing a soft touch haptic surface.

Sheet structure for protecting the screen of an electronic device with a curved surface and method of making the same
The present disclosure relates to a sheet structure for protecting the screen of an electronic device with a curved surface. The sheet structure includes a back plate, an adhesive layer, and a heat-bent clear glass sheet in the order from the side contacting the screen of the electronic device towards the other side of the sheet structure. The back plate is made by measuring and copying the curvature of the curved surface of the electronic device. The adhesive layer is made of an organic compound and used for sticking the back plate and the heat-bent clear glass sheet together and at the same time filling the concave surface of the heat-beat clear glass sheet. The heat-bent clear glass sheet complements the curved surface of the electronic device through the adhesive layer so as to protect the curved surface of the electronic device when adhering thereto.
