Vehicle luminous glazing unit and the manufacture thereof

A vehicle, in particular road vehicle, luminous glazing unit includes a laminated glazing unit and a first light source at the periphery of the glazing unit, a luminous woven textile including warp yarns, weft yarns and optical fibers, the optical fibers being capable of emitting light sideways, the optical fibers protruding from a first edge face of the laminated glazing unit, and the light source is connected to the first free ends of the optical fibers. The woven textile has openings between the warp yarns, the weft yarns and the optical fibers, lets a fraction of the solar radiation through via the openings and has a clarity C of at least 75%. The luminous woven textile is in optical contact with the faces F2 and F3 of the glass panes of the laminated glazing unit.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR CONSTRUCTING OR RETROFITTING ELECTROMAGNETICALLY SHIELDED FACILITIES

Electromagnetically shielding an enclosable structure having a floor, walls, a ceiling, and at least one closeable opening by applying a shielding wallcovering to at least a portion of one of the walls and applying a second type of shielding material to at least a portion of the enclosable structure, wherein the second type of shielding material differs from the shielding wallcovering. The shielding wall covering is wallpaper comprising a metal-coated broad good and a resin. Other types of shielding material may include a transparent, shielding window covering such as NiCVD coated screen of woven silk fibers; shielded flooring such as a layered combinations of Kevlar non-woven as a base layer, nickel-coated non-woven layers, and a PCF toughened polymer; and a transition shielding strip made of a base layer of the shielding wallpaper with a PCF toughened polymer coating over a portion of the strip.

HYBRID COVERLAY/WINDOW STRUCTURE FOR FLEXIBLE DISPLAY APPLICATIONS

Protective cover layers for electronic devices are described. In an embodiment, an electronic device includes a display panel and a protective cover layer over the display panel. The protective cover layer includes a transparent support substrate and a hardcoat layer covering an exterior facing surface of the transparent support substrate. The display panel may be a flexible display panel and the protective cover layer may flex with the flexible display panel.

Exposed glass article with enhanced stiffness for portable electronic device housing

A transparent article, such as a transparent cover, for use as a cover glass for an electronic device, as well as methods for producing transparent articles, are disclosed. The transparent article can form a part of a housing of the portable electronic device and can provide an outer surface for a portion of the housing. The transparent article can be provided over a display of portable electronic device to provide a protective outer cover over the display. In one embodiment, the transparent article can be formed with a laminate structure. In another embodiment, the transparent article can be formed with a ribbed structure. In still another embodiment, a sapphire coating can be deposited on the transparent article to improve it strength. Advantageously, the transparent article is able to be not only thin and lightweight but also provide sufficient stiffness for use as a cover glass.

Thermally insulative, durable, reflective convoluted sleeve and method of construction thereof

A thermally insulative, flexible, durable reflective exhaust pipe sleeve and method of construction thereof is provided. The sleeve includes a knit, heat-resistant inner layer, a reflective metallic outer layer and an intermediate layer sandwiched between the inner and outer layers. The inner layer is constructed having an inner surface exposed to an inner cavity of the sleeve and the outer layer is constructed having an outer reflective surface exposed to the surrounding environment. The intermediate layer is constructed of a woven material and is sandwiched in abutment with the inner and outer layers. The outer and intermediate layers are convoluted, while the inner layer is cylindrically tubular.

A method of making and deploying a bullet proof vest that can be used to protect students at points of education. The method involves a process of combining/bonding fifteen fiberglass sheets with fiberglass resin in a time specific manner and then pressing the fiberglass sheets together thereby forming a fiberglass plate. A pair of fiberglass plates formed using the present method are thereafter inserted within a vest that has a front and a back receiving pocket. The vest has a strap that is used to tighten the vest on a user wearing the vest. The bullet proof vest of the present invention is inexpensive, lightweight and may also include a tracking device that will inform the authorities of the deployment of the vest. The tracking device of the bullet proof vest will connect to a central monitoring system and will be stored/deployed within an educational desk.

Electromagnetically shielded wallpaper

The electromagnetic shielding of an enclosable building structure is provided by applying a shielding wallcovering to at least a portion of building structure. The shielding wall covering is wallpaper comprising a metal-coated substrate core and resin. To connect the shielded wallpaper to the building structure a layer of the resin or an adhesive layer may be used.
